Hi all newbie alert.
Went to test drive a CSL on Thursday, this one in fact
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1982383.htm
The car was ok, bit over priced for the mileage, but in decent nick. It’s been a while since I’ve driven a CSL and have a question.
I know you can alter the speed of gear changes with the button behind the gear selector. I’m not sure what setting I had it in tbh, but was in sport mode and in full control of the gear change with the paddles.
Gave the car full beans and changed gear at 7K revs from third to forth with a roar of revs, the change seemed to take a while to move from one gear to another. Noticed the transition a bit ponderous in other changes too.
So my question is how fast you can change gear in full on banzi mode in milliseconds, not how quick does the paddle react to the driver input, but time taken to swap from one gear to another. Are there any problems with the SMG gearbox which could make the changes slower?
I’m aware the CSL doesn’t have the latest DCT or instant shift gear box, but expected it to be much quicker.
Did the salesman not set the shift button right or am I expecting too much from a 6 year old car.
Help
