Car is having a bit of work done to it, mainly surrounding the front sussy with a view to getting a benchmark geo dialled into it.
I had noticed previously that one of the seals that goes on the end of the unit had split, so I thought it best to replace both whilst car was stripped. see first 2 pics.
After stripping units, the cause was found to be a split liner in the actual piston, which must have parted and been pushed up into the seal, forcing it off the cylinder housing see next 2 pics, split not very clear though.
As a result, I have purchased at great expense, a special tool for stripping the cylinder assy apart to replace this seal should it fail for whatever reason. Said tool is available to all of course.will try and post pdf of its application.Pdf file too large ..sorry !

Hey Duncan, you doing this rebuild yourself? Or have you got someone you know over here who can do it.
I rang intrax the other day as am looking at getting them to recon all my dampers and then do a full setup with corner weight and geo.

Dunc, you need to give your car some love and attention and stop treating it like your women ;)
My Intrax looks better than the day i bought it :smokin: and now nicely cleaned and sitting in the garage all shiney and happy.
I think it is worth remembering that a/m suspension is not built like BMW stuff and wont last as long especially if not looked after. Salt and dirt will have an affect and they do need cleaning regularly and id say a full refurb by specialist or manuyfacturer every two years or so depending on abuse given.
