Had my car up on the ramp this morning for an Inspection prior to a new Geo. This 8mm bolt in the triangular bracing was sheared. This fault will not apply to a lot of you as it is a very rare occurence, usually associated with drivers looking for sub 8 minute laps of the Ring, and spirited driving at all other times ! :birdman:
I am neither of the above !!!:hahaha:

I'm pretty sure that it's bigger than 8mm mate - was when i removed mine earlier this year to swap out the exhaust mid-section.

I wouldn't worry too much, quite common and tell tell sign is a rattle as it hits the exhaust. We ditch them on the race cars completely.

Doesnt look like there is any impact damage there Dunc, the bolt sits recessed slightly.
Looks to me like some cunts snapped it off at some point.

Appreciate the input JT.Whats its real function then John? Would you recommend keeping it in place on a road car? Also, Shimmy is bound to ask how heavy it is so that he can recalculate all his lap times if he takes his off !

It stiffens the car, keeps the diff and mounting tied into the car.
Its a strut brace as such.
I would only remove if you have a cage welded into the diff carrier, if just a bolt in cage I'd keep it.

Technically its a diff support, keep them on the road cars but not needed on race cars if cage has diff support (most do).
Another thing to too look at when underneath. Getting her on the ramps soon as have nasty little knock from the front when going v slowly just getting on or off throttle with a bit of steering on.
