My battery light was coming on today at high revs, about over 6500RPM when I was flooring it. It would stay on during the whole time I was over that rev range, then when I came off the throttle would stay on for a further 1-2 seconds then go away.

Everytime I floored it again and approached 6000+ RPM then same thing would happen...

Any ideas on this? Its kinda making me worried...:banghead:

Alternator on its way out. The light will come on more with time.

Mine done this and needed a new alternator very poor on a car that was 4 years old at the time and 25k.

Belt slipping,or alternator on the way out,if the light starts coming on more and more its fooked, and could leave you stranded in the middle of no where:bigcry:.Best get it looked at sooner rather than later.;)

Just get it booked in and get them to change the alternator, especially if it's under warranty.

Alternator going will just stop the car where ever as it did to me on a motorway and help knacker battery. Get it looked at asap in mym experience.

I was stranded near Bruntingthorpe for over 3 hours when mine went. Thus began the recovery truck story from hell... :banghead:

Hi Swift,

This defi sounds like alternator, mine did that in Italy, eventually the battery will die when your on the move. It was kind of cool the way the car failed, it was a bit like a system shutdown, all the electrics failed in sequence, the smg was the last thing to go then it just rolled to a stop... fortunately within spitting distance of a BMW dealer, 500 euros and I had it back the same day :)

Ever had the problem but I replaced the alternator at 70k miles as preventative maintenance to hopefully avoid it.
