A good day with Northern Jim, a few of the lads from the RS forum (I think) and a few old faces from the ring :supz:

a few offs from others made a quiet track day even quieter

I thought my day was going to be short after three outings my front cups were showing a bit of thread on the outside :banghead:
Ive never changed the camber on them, always set at -1.5, I had to give it a try, well Jim did and after a lot of fiddling knocked it out to the -3 setting
after changing the setting the car was not handling well at all :bigcry:
I spoke to some guys who were in track cars and they suggested a new setting for the suspension, I was running hard at the front and a bit softer at the back, we changed it to a couple softer at the front and harder at the back. I could not believe the difference it made :supz: although my cups are now slicks the outside edge was saved and minimal thread showing  my rears have still got another track day in them ?? I thought rears went 1st ??

anyway some pics

:)Good pics Steve, looks like you had a good day.:thumbs:

yes it was mate, a bit worried when the canvas was showing at 10.30

I'm sure Jim will be along soon although the M62 near his end was grid locked due to accidents ....

Glad you boys had a good day! Loving your sunstrip mate, where did you get it from? :smokin:

What suspension you running btw? :)

local guy did the sun strip, Phatm3 (Steve) sorted out the art work  it was less than £30 fitted

running AST, really happy with it although I have struggled to get my set up right, but when you get to track there is always someone who can advise, I just need to drop the front end a bit more :)

northernjim

had to go offpiste to get home, to avoid the closed M62:banghead:

but:beer: As Steve says I am now a fully qualified csl mechanic:clown::hahaha:

He looked gutted at 10am looking at the canvas in his tyre, glad to help mate but please stop soaking your tyres in marmalade, they might last a bit longer:hahaha::hahaha:

Fantastic day, fantastic track, tight twisty and really ball-wrenchingly fast too, good curry for lunch too:smokin:

yep he's a stockport lad so by coming with us, instead of going cross country like he did on the way there, he was totally fecked:clown::bigcry:

so are you going to try and really get them bald at silverstone?:smokin: or get some new cups:gayfight: especially for it?

s.mac
22-09-2010, 10:16 PM
I'm sure I could get stickers and back strip
It a plain silk Black boarder with transfers on top
he can do a print vinyl but didn't recommend it, although that's what Rob and Daz had.
you would need to fit it, not easy ....
pm me if you want me to ask if he can post

Glad you had a good day boys - weather looked ok!

I thought my day was going to be short after three outings my front cups were showing a bit of thread on the outside :banghead:

No wonder running -1.5 degrees (road settings) :hahaha: :hahaha:

Check the factory KW Clubsport sticky in the Technical section - always set the rear slightly stiffer than the front ;)

I thought rears went 1st ??

On road yes - on track no. How many track days have you done mate? Noob! :hahaha: :hahaha:

Glad you had a good day Steve. You need a good amount of camber and a decent suspension set-up to take the Cups to a different level and more importantly, make them last MUCH longer.;) Get it properly set and corner weighted. It'll save you many $$$$ on Cups.

lol, the only time you went past me was when I'd just come out and was on my warm up.... not that I am competitive you know:whistle:

It has loads of lap times- some of them don't make sense, and when i look at the 'data' the gps isn't accurate ( it does recommend the tom tom upgrade cradle for much better accuracy)

that lap is 1 min 51.88

best lap was 1 min 48.65

I need to export all the laps and spend a bit of time sifting thru them - methinks the tomtom upgrade will be needed for consistently good plots

http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq253/ilikethealps/Cadwell%20Park%20sept%2022%202010/cadwelllap-datajpgcoppiceclose-up.jpg

89mph - I will have let off by then! i was a little erratic up there in the morning- this pic was at 12:10pm I was faster after you'd told me the 'dab and hang on to your balls method'

89mph is about right I reckon Jim for you

I was virtually flat out through there near end of the day, dont know what speed, ill try to dig it out.
But I was definitely flat where yours shows 68, then dab brake for next corner.
1.42 was my fastest lap, first time there.

And Ste who was this local guy, as no one stepped in to calm things, I was quite diplomatic and calmed the guy myself, there were a few onlookers. Was proud actually, must be growing up ;).
