In car footage from a rather damp couple of races at Cadwell in the Golf Mk2 GTi Championship. Watch the idiot in 3rd place come past me on the grass to take out the leader (no I didn't pay him to do that either):hahaha: and he is an instructor at this circuit! Trying to overtake there - numpty!

drying track - it pissed it down about 15 mins before the race start, also nearly everything on these cars is standard (to keep costs down), but everyone is in the same boat so it doesn't matter. It actually quite good since it stops the people with deeper pockets getting an advantage. When all the cars are the same, it comes down to the donkey behind the wheel and car set-up.

He got 4 points on his race license and excluded from the results - which is no "real" punishment as he still completed the race out of the points and who gives a toss about points on a race license? The only effective punishment is a race ban - that would really hurt.

Noticed thats a Saxon Motorsport car, what's your involvement with them?, I keep looking at the arrive and drive option on their site for the Golf Championship, really fancy a full season of racing next year and it looks like I can do a whole season of the GTI championship for the cost of one Britcar race!

Yep - Mark at Saxon Motorsport runs my car for me. He is a very knowledgable chap when it comes to Mk2 Golf's - what he doesn't know about them isn't worth knowing, and they have done so much development in this championship the results speak for themselves, I've won 4 races this year and I'm leading the championship. They now run about 6 or 7 cars in the series, and they have worked on nearly every front running car now. I would definately recommend them to anyone. I'm driving their Civic Type R in the Britcar 24hr race too. If you can, pop along to Silverstone on Oct 1st 2nd and 3rd and come a say hello - they're a very friendly bunch who will be more than happy to help and caters for all budgets depending on how much you want them to do and how much you want to do yourself. Feel free to send me a pm if you to discuss anything further.

I saw a couple of people run straight on at that point on my first track day at cadwell.
What times did you run?
I managed a 1.42 first time there in the CSL. Reckon i could 1.38 with a few more visits,
It's an awesome circuit, definitely one of my favourites, just not much room for error on some corners.
I am going to see how I get to grips with my mk and go race that thing. Looks like you were having fun.

Pole was 1.38 Considering the cars are bog standard and only have 150-160 BHP and have a minimum weight of 1025Kg it not too shabby. We still have to run the standard top mount bushes on the suspension which keeps the suspension costs down. Most generic £ 1000 to £1500 adjustable suspension kits are more than adequate, if you get someone who spends £5000 on an all singing all dancing system, it will effectively be useless since there is a spongey standard top mount bush connecting it to the car. It makes for some "interesting" handling when you first drive one, but it's all about making it affordable.
I have to say that it is probably the some of the closest motorsport you'll see. If you miss a gear, you can loose 3 or places in one go! I regularly get people coming to find the drivers after the race just to say thankyou for displaying the most entertaining race of the day.
