View Full Version : Camera mount ?

Any recommendations for a camera mount to use in a car that doesn't have a rollcage to clamp a mount onto ?
I'm just trying to use a Flip video camera, which is about the same size and shape as a small phone, but can't find anything suitable to mount it. I tried one suction mount, but the arm wasn't long enough to use it on the windscreen as the camera is quite tall.
So looking to see if anyone else has something they know definitely works.

I use a ball and pivot rollbar clamp, so no good to you. What mounting fixing is on the camera?

A point here gents ! due to recent court ruling against MSV suctions mounts may become a thing of the past. Circuit Days have banned their use at TD's, so assume that others may do too. Nathan ? ideas ?

This is a problem requirring a soloution imo.
One existing way is one of the 'Super Clamp with Ball and Socket Head' on to left upper side of seat which works of recaro profi for sure.
I wonder whether some kind of harness type bar would be best, but they are not cheap iirc

Suction mounts are on the way out for sure, especially the heavy ones like the b-hauge, not allowed at a lot of days already.
Weirdly circuit days seem ok with the suction mounts supplied with the vbox lite (disclaimer, at the moment, or at least the last couple I've been at), presumably they've applied some common sense and decided that a bullet cam isn't going to hurt very much or stop you pressing the brake pedal if it falls off?

Tbh the bhague suction mount us superb but like said above suction mounts are being frowned upon. You can easily mount it on the front screen and tue it to the mirror which does get passed most scrutineering.
I guess the bullet cam mounts are already tethered by the cable so can't go far anyway. Once again a bullet can on small suction mount can easily be tethered to the mirror or sun visor.

AFAIK it is only MSV that are being anal about them. I did a day at Oulton with them last year and they said they were banned at the brief but then when i asked the circuit staff they said it was ok!
The B-Hague mount is secured very well as it has a vacuum pump to keep it in place unlike the simple 'lick & stick' suckers.

Ta.
That looks like it's got enough suck to crack the windscreen... Looks like a good option, although it's not cheap of course.
