TD Wheel offsets, clarification/pics needed

Righto, I do know how to use the search button but there seems to be plenty of argument on offsets.

I did own (for a short while, lets not go there just yet) a stock M3 and I put a set of 9Jx18's (265 tyres) on it. Got them from TMS and rumour has it that they are an ET30.

At the front they stuck out further than I was expecting/liking...sadly I don't have any pictures (lets not go there!). There are some posts which suggest they may have been ET20 which would make sense I guess.

So - if anyone has the same team dynamics wheels in 9x18 on either an ET20 or ET30 offset, I'd love to see a pic straight on to see if the tyre edge falls outside of the arch.

If anyone can claim to conclusively clear up the debate about which offset to get, I'm all ears :-) And also, what size spacer you run at the rear when buying a square set of wheels...

PS I presume a CSL is the same as a stock M3 in this regard.....cos thats the new project.

What camber and tyres as will make a difference to fit. Don't the wheels have the offsets stamped on them?

ET30 should be fine - OEM M3 18" rear is ET26 and 9" wide and they fit just fine so imagine that but with an extra 4mm clearance on the outside.

Spacer size depends on wheel width and offset, 10 or 15mm I'd guess.

We usually supply ET30's but did supply ET20's for some people for race cars, generally ET30's are what we offer as you can use them with/without spacers for choice of tyres, road/track etc.

Anyway, putting aside my rage;) et30 as nathan says is the best road/track TD set up with 265/35/18 tyres although once again it is not an easy thing to do on paper as the type of tyres, suspension, rims, coilovers, geo all will make things slightly different. Even the mechanics who install the coilovers can do it in a way that precludes certain offsets to be used.

Here is my car with 265/35/18 tyres on rims 9.5Jx18 et 34 front and et 15 rear on Volks G2

Christian was trying to check what you sold me last time. Certainly looking at karbonkids' picture mine were sticking out further than that, so I reckon you must have sold me the ET20s. No big deal because they now "need a bit of a refurb" ;-)

TD seem to be a bit heavy on the paint so I couldn't read what offset they were from the rear (assuming they even stamp them, there were a number of markings but I couldn't make anything obvious out).

I have ran both the 30 & 20 offsets on the td 18 xc 9 on my csl on exactly the same suspension setup.

Kw clubsport on track settings.
I had no rubbing on the 30 and they were perfect, with the 20 I had the tiniest amount on the rears, but I was running 12mm spacers on the rear.
I could have put a tiny more rear camber and the tiniest amount of rubbing would disappear.
The 20 did make it look very aggressive.

I presume the rubbing at the rear was on the outside of the arches?

So, more and more it sounds like ET30 is spot on, I must have had 20s I think.

I was thinking on a 20mm spacer at the rear - with your 20's and a 12mm spacer thats 2mm more, hmm maybe karbonkid is right with the 15mm spacer.

If you can just about run 15mm spacers on 9.5j et27 OEM rims you sound just be able to squeeze 20mm spacers on a 9.0j et 30.
