View Full Version : More daft cup questions
When do you guys tend to switch over to normal tyres? Left mine on all Winter, but it's not a daily for me.
Was it below 10 deg that BMW advised they are not used? (presume for road use)
At what approx air temp do you think they would get up to temp on track in Winter? (assume dry, guess depends on how hard you drive, track surface etc etc...)

ive never used anything else but Cups on track, whatever the conditions BUT i would not usually use Cups if the conditions were heavy rain or under 5ish degrees C

Tyes become degraded at temperatures below 7 degrees Celsius - BMW recommends fitting winter tyres. See this thread:

Use mine daily on cups all year / track and road, normally use common sense, although I dont have much of that TBH  as to when to change, as I dont normally go outside holding a gauge to measure the temp :clown:
So when winter finally draws in, and you know when that is, it's time to change, last year think it was mid nov I swapped out, and back on March time from memory

There fine in the rain as shim says, it the cold and rain that will cause some interesting moments, as for the snow well mine stayed put .. but looking for a proper winter tyre this year rather than an all round ;)

I change mine when its snows or if they are fookin bald, which they are, i am touching canvas
if you get them hot enough you can spread the rubber with a putty knife and cut your own standing water groove's

Get another set of wheels and you can chop and change on a daily basis.
