ie no aircon/radio etc. Highly sought after or do people value aircon in their life far more ?

We were only having this discussion the other day, they will probably become more desirable in time but these days people do tend to want abit more from spending the best part of 30k which I can understand.

id not miss any of the options i have except aircon - some of the summer days and euro trips would have been a bit pikey without it and even on track it can be a great benefit especially if you have a sweaty fat bloke next to you

I think it depends a lot on how and why you have it?

For me, as an Only car for most of my ownership I wanted AC and Xenon's especially. Have really become reliant on the PDC's too now, so much so that I forget the Mrs Golf doesn't have them and I've almost clocked a bollard or two.

The other options, Floor Mats, Smokers package, Rain sensor, comfort screen I could easily life without. Despite the only option mine not having being the Rain Sensor, funny, I know when it's raining.

If its a track only car then yeah, just AC I would think.

Non rain sensing wipers are good when you have them, then use a car without them.
Its a pita without them,

yep all bollocks really, you buy what you want and need, there will be of course the very very small minority who want the pikey spec, but they will never actually drive them, just try and make money on it, so best avoid those museum ones as they will break down anyway due to the fact they have never been driven properly :hahaha:

Unless you just want to sit and look at it ;)

We have become acustomised to minimum standards these days and A/C and stereo are considered as standard so without these the car will by nature be less desireable and possibly definitely count a good number out.
The other options Xenons, PDC, rain sensors etc are probably nice but would not be a deal breaker like the A/C & Stereo IMO.
It has been said before that in some ways the 'pikey' few are the true lightweights but IMO as the options were no-cost extras then cannot see these getting to the same values as equivalent car fitted with all the kit and will always be even more difficult to sell on.
Still in my case any CSL would be better than no CSL at all :banghead:

ie no aircon/radio etc

Normal they are BMW press cars and released early in the build period.

I would buy one if I was going to track it. The 1385 kg car was with no extra fitted.

When I finally get round to looking for one with the premise of walking away with the keys, minimum I want is climate control and stereo.

The stereo is essential as it stops you hearing and worrying about all those creaks and groans from the suspensions, exhaust, heat shield and wife:)

I probably could have, but could not be arsed removing the wrap, painting the front end etc. So just done the deal with my mate.

I have sold everything from that car and its now standard, so just need to shift the car.

The air con is essential down under given the summers we have had the last 10 years with many days over 36 deg Celcius.

Hopefully the summer we have this year, when we get the ashes back, continues this trend (I own a business that sells cold drinks;))

I guess the other question - how much weight does aircon and the no-cost options (typically added) put onto the car?

I'm considering a CSL for a pure track car, wondered if it made much difference. Some aircon systems are well heavy, some just a small percentage of a cars overall weight.

My CSL with me, a 3rd tank of fuel was 1505kg. IIRC, no options

Im 17st so work that out, im pisssed right now so conversions will be comical:hahaha:

To be honest if you are asking the question you will not notice the difference;), buy one with A/C, you will like it better, if the weather ever picks up.

heh yes a 15 minute "comfort break" would probably offset the aircon ;-)

or a diet of salad for 6 months.

I'm loving this thread....... you get like - 3 options.

1. Stereo
2. A/C
3. Xenon headlights

It must have been a real headache for the first CSL owners which options to pick. :hahaha::hahaha::hahaha:

and if you complain at the 3 - you'll go crazy from looking at 7 series option list. :hahaha:

4. Rear PDC

Technically there were more (albeit minor options) - Grad tint windscreen, Floor overmats, Speed limiter removal, etc.

I'm from Madrid but I spend a lot of time in Malaga because my girlfriend is from Mijas Costa. Last time I went there was two weeks ago. I will come back from 11 to 16 of September.

Regarding options, my CSL has Business head unit, Xenon, PDC, Alarm, Rain Sensor and Speed limiter removed
Best Regards!

Am I right in saying none of these were options to add but free options to delete?

_Nathan_

Around 12-15kg for aircon from memory.

Wish I'd kept mine in!

4Kg or so for Xenon lights IIRC.

PDC weighs next to nothing, auto wipers hardly anything (just the weight of the sensor on the mirror support).

Think it was more that they were free to add, to my knowledge if you didn't spec a radio it didn't come with one, same with air con, both options were free though.

I believe that PDC was charged for, as was clima comfort screen and also I think xenons.

Elliot will know for sure though!

4kg for Xenon is too much Nathan. The difference is around 2kg.

You including the headlamp wash system in that? I'm pretty sure it is around 4kg with the ballast, lights and wash system + auto levelling sensors.
