if you're that good on "normal" tyres then nothing will come past you with CUP's on...

Cup tyres rock! There is a considerable difference between road tyres & Cup tyres - especially with their cornering grip ability

Cups wear rather quicker than road tyres of course :bigcry:

Totally agree, I've done a couple of trackdays on Michelin Pilot Sport's this year which were ok but overheated and 'went off' after a couple of sessions, I've also done a couple of trackdays on worn Cups and the grip and difference is night and day IMO! ;)

The Cups not only allow longer sessions due to withstanding the heat better they obviously allow for better lap times due to the grip!

All I can say is get some, don't worry about them in the rain either, I personally don't think they are bad at all and have not had any 'moments' at all, either in greasy semi wet conditions or full on wet roads!

Mine was fine on 265 rears mate, I've got a mate who can do full fat Cups, fitted and balanced with new valves for £1100 the lot!

I don't know if they can deliver, I can get a cost for just the tyre's and collect them for you, you'd just have to courier them the rest of the way if you like? :)

RIGHT!! im sold!

where is the best place to buy cup tyres? :hahaha:

i currently have 275/30/19 on the rear,i know the standard are 265.

shall i go back to 265??

yes you have to

only CSL 19 inch sizes are 235/35/19 and 265/30/19, try Elite Tyres, Blackboots, Protyre, Costco, Camskills(if you have memebership will be cheapest)

dont buy Cup+ by mistake like some knumbskulls

Cup left, Cup+ right

Cup+ are :gayfight:Shim! LOL

Are there also Cup N0's or something? (Sure I've seen something else listed by them!)

Cup N1 or N0 are just porsche approved - doens really matter, they can be used BUT just make sure they are not Cup+ with the extra rain channel and wider channels

if you want to save money my 4 recommnedations

1. get adjustable front camber plate or adjustable suspension
2. dont overheat them so keep say below 15 minutes on track and pressures 32 or under all times 9dry)
3. swap them over between track days if circuits are all right handers or left handers
4, get them heat cycled before use if ou can (£40)

Ok great!!

what are cups+ then??? some one explain???...please

as said above they have a wider rain channel as per shimmy's pics, and they are not the same compound.

thanks Shimmy! and thanks for the cups+info......
I bought the car with KW 3 and ap's.
do i need to look into getting adjustable camber plates as well, do you think?
Heat cycled?? £40??

Heat cycling alters the rubber compound and helps prepare it for track use

You may adjustable front camber plates fitted, if not the ability to alter front camber easily by 1 degree helps grip but also reduces tyre wear

DSC off means you have ABS only left working, no TC or active driver aids.

S6 on the SMG only is available when DSC is OFF

Dan

ok thanks.....i thought the camber looked more than standard.

another thing...am i right in thinking...S6 mode is basically everything switched off, traction wise?

or does it do anything else?

Correct, DSC has to be off to enable S6 so zero traction control and 0.08s gearchange :smokin:, in M-Track mode S5 is max and DSC is set to around 40% IIRC ;)

Posted identical time to Shimmy! lol

Shimmy is a track vet, i'm a newbie, done about 3/4 this year, I use sport but have kept DSC on to date and just use S5 for the SMG.

Next year I'll get some fresh Cups and give the M-Track mode a go in Sport and see how that feels!

I won't do Combe in the dry and it's my 'local' track! Now that's :gayfight: :bigcry: :bigcry:

Why on earth not? :smt017

It's ok but its rather flat & a tad boring - my least favourite track so far.

Partly because I've done countless laps as a passenger and can't seem to be bothered to drive it now, also it is a short lap, but very quick with virtually no run off...

I wanted to do Silverstone and Brands this year which I've done, preferred Brands over the Southern circuit at Silverstone but nothing compares to Spa does it :smokin: :smokin:
