View Full Version : Evo article this month by Chris Harris
Towards the back of this months Evo - was a nice little article where Chris checks out the black CSL at Parva Prestige (think Dan mentioned this car not so long ago on here)
Basically he says what an excellent motor the CSL is, especially in the light of BMW ///M now selling it's soul and going for low revving turbo lumps as opposed to the screamers of old.
He reckoned this one was a good buy (£26.5k with 46k miles I think) .. and said "mark my words, they'll be £35k in 5 years" ;-)

On a thread related note, i don't worry about resale value as i do not intend to sell.
In any case, i don't see the point in buying a car, be that a CSL or a Ford Fiesta, for it to not be used for its intended purpose for fear of losing a grand or two in the longer term...
IMHO ;)

Additionally, if you want to start throwing a few names my way, the least you could do is contribute a few quid to finally become a full member - you should be one by now considering your post count and extensive use of the forum...
Blimey, hit a nerve!? It was only a joke and I've 'taken' a lot more from you lately than I've given back! :blalalala:
Sadly I can't afford endless Ring trips and track days mate, otherwise I'd do a few more, I'm happy owning the car and I tend to chop and change so I don't want to ruin it :)
Regarding contributing I didn't realise there was a limit on post count, however, I was pretty much signing into paypal just the other night to donate but then didn't know how to send it, I was going to ask if I was to send it as a gift but it slipped my mind!
Why don't you confirm and I'll glady help the site out!?

I share the same opinion.
I am not going to sell my CSL but anyhow I find it sad not to enjoy something, anything... for fearing you will lose money.
Life is difficult, occasionally sweet but above all short.
You don't know when it's going to end.

No nerve hit - i hadn't meant my replies to cause you upset - they were delivered tongue-in-cheek, hence the ;) & smilies. The 'ticking off' was just for a laugh as you had called me a homosexual just because i like pink wheels.
I too cannot afford endless Ring trips - i wish that i could! I have been twice this year and will hopefully go again this October. I dont think that you'll 'ruin' a CSL merely by adding a few thousand miles to the odometer during your ownership - however long or short.
Again, the contribution remark was said tongue-in-cheek and there is of course no post limit - full member or otherwise. Most members who value the site tend to contribute to the running of the forum, myself included. And no - i don't see any of the money :hahaha:
If serious about a donation, then click on the green 'Donate' link above and the rest is straight forward.
Finally - chill out ya big jessie! :gayfight:

Colleague at work has been invited to go to Wales next week with his E36 M3 Evo for a feature they're doing along the lines of 25 years of M3's or similar. Anyone's CSL going along?

Just read this article.....interesting that Harris favours black cars....I thought he was a petrolhead :hahaha:
My feel is that a well kept / good mileage car will go above £35K in 5 years..not sure if he is suggesting same mileage/condition IN 5 years would be £35K or buy it now / drive average miles for 5 years (so will be ~80K miles) and it'll still be worth £35K
.....taking into account inflation / costs (maintenance/insurance etc) between now and 2015, there aint no profit for anyone in anything investing in a ~ £25K car today if he is suggesting £35K in 5. Money back only, so deprication proof at best.
As the dog said - get out and drive the fookers !!

Sounds like EVO are missing the point here, some what :smt017 as the E46 M3 CSL is one of the most significant M3 in the last 25 years IMHO :smt055
Even they (EVO) agree with that
I'd happily bring mine along and even do the M3 shoot for them  but they (EVO) are a very exclusive, inward looking club to get into :bigcry:

Only 5K less than mine Simon and like a single malt they get better with age
Insp II booked and then off to the ring next month so another chunk of miles to be added there.

No E36 Evo either. Got written off on the way to the shoot. Shoot is today, so not sure if they'll have managed to get hold of another. Mate is not happy, but is ok, which is the main thing.

Maybe we need to deploy Alex GTT in his SG CSL to go for a "Drive By" reminding EVO guys of what they are missing :smt047
I believe he's quite local to the photo shoot location

Evo did an article not so long back on M cars - rated e30 first followed by CSL IIRC? (CS, M5, E36 EVO, M1 etc etc)
Can't be that far back as the issue still resides next to my porcelain throne :hahaha:
