Shimmy, what did you think of south circuit? Good/bad, bit short, interesting...

I liked it.
Very fast.
Best time was 1m18s so a tiny bit quicker than Snetterton but similar on my mind to Snetterton
traffic was a problem but with more experienced drivers you could get alot more overtaking done.
Club is quick, just like a reverse B2 at Spa, around 85mph entry, loads of outer run off but with green AstroTurf strip, then an FIA concrete pit wall on the inside.
New fast corner at Farm is quicker but you can go in too quick and compromise the next corner which can by very very fast.
A nice couple of bits off camber, a couple of bumps in the track, wide, good kerbs and plenty of seats for my fans to watch. :)
I saw Curly's mate in his R400 there (Steve) and we had a great session over about 4 laps (CSL 1-0 R400) but it was close.
I think it would take ne a couple more trips or at least sone clear traffic to nail Farm and the odd corner back onto Hanger Straight which are by far the hardest two.

That would be spot on mate, nice write up on the circuit aswell, out of a few I've done this year I really enjoyed Silverstone! :)

We were there for the evening session but thanks to circuit days got on for a few laps at the end of the day session.
Wasn't on the case though, just shaking the car down and seeing what problems there were, circuit was mentally busy and failed wheel speed sensor meant no ABS which was interesting, few big lock ups on the new start finish straight before we got the pickup off the front tyres. Never driven any Silverstone configuration before and this has made me want to go back and do a test day on the national and GP circuits.
First ever time driving on race wets came in the evening session, just mental.

Did you get any grief using the vbox at silverstone shimmy? i remember the track notes when i did the mlr day there and they stated no camera clamps or mounts.

no hassle
CD nor Silverstone mentioned it other than no hand held
mine are clamped but Duncan had suckers on his front screen ,and neither of us had any issues.
All good then...good to know duncan has one so i can be a nuisance with questions at bedford as i wanna give nathan a break from me..:hahaha:

What a cracking little layout the South Circuit is, had some lappery in Nathan's monster CSL.
Even on old slicks it has so much grip you can just mash the throttle at the apex and just launch out of the corners, turn in and front end grip are amazing too, it is the most balanced car I have ever driven.
Had a play on racing wets when it started raining and was blown away by how much grip it had, I would say it had as much grip in the rain as my Boxster does in the dry, a Dastun GTR tried to keep up and fell of the track trying :hahaha: - I may have got a little excited and pissed a few people off though as I ended up getting a bollocking from the organiser
Thanks again to Nathan for trusting me with his P&J - need to find the budget to join him for a race this year :bigcry:

I have quite a decent vid, with me under instruction from Phil @ Circuit Days, gives turn in, and clipping points, also a lap following Shimmy which clearly demonstrated how the 4.1 diff can launch you out of the tight corners quicker, hence his 1:18, and the best I could manage, albeit with slight traffic was 1:23, so 5 secs, about 1/2 sec per corner.:banghead:

Even on the MLR day that I did there with Jez I thought it was very very busy indeed, the circuit didn't overly lend itself very well for overtaking either.
At one point I was stuck behind some cock in an Evo going through Club and up past the new pit wall, and some impatient knob in a Porsche behind couldn't wait any longer and overtook me on the outside of the rumble strip (where Schumacher and the GP2 cars kept running wide last weekend) then rejoined forcing me into the middle of the circuit! :banghead: :banghead:

Oulton park on wednesday was like that, no fucker would move out the way. Caterfield boys were the worst offenders. :banghead:
Then near end of the day I hunted down an Aston Martin race car on slicks, would he fuck move out my way, slowing me down on every corner and I was sat on his bumper for nearly a full lap, I overtook him on the right under braking for Lodge as he was really pissing me off. :banghead:
I got black flagged:whistle:
My excuse was he braked suddenly and I thought I was going to collide so I moved to the right:smokin:

No, with my new seats my weiner area is now 3" away, I can deal with 2" but the extra inch sees me flopping in the wind:hahaha::hahaha:

Only on track, no road rage anymore. I'm a reformed character these days. Having a little nipper has done that.
Just track rage.:hahaha:
You go on track to have fun, but you end up being sat behind a bellend that does not use his/her mirrors, drives erraticly taking strange lines, brakes very very early and will not move out the way...................reminds me of the roads on a sunday;)
