Right Chaps...I had been toying with the idea of creating a display plate for Track/ Static display use for some time and thanks to Steve aka 'Phat///M3' who has been helping me with all the require artwork, we have managed to come up with a final image that has now been forwarded to the printers.
I now need to know an idea on possible numbers who may be interested in a set, to generate a better idea on what cost will be per set. Please add your name below or PM if preferred, to show your interest.
Below is a mock up of the plate:

Looks good the pair of you, and there is just enough space at the ends to put some initials so that Im fully aware of who im about to pass ! All those SG motors at Spa confused me somewhat as didnt know who was who !
Put me down for a set KK, as I shall be converting my new plate to a velcro type TD rip off one !:smokin:

Hope everyone likes it, I do want to praise/give credit to Adam (aka CSLCup) as he was kind enough to send me a file with the CSL lettering they use on the CSL Cup and it also had the red register letters in there which I decided to use in the end aswell.

Ahh.. numbers Rising!
@matt - we did try enlarging the image and has being enlarged slightly from the original now. We initially thought the image may be better kept smaller (like shown) as it appears a little more subtle and classy. But this is open to all suggestions and wiling to try before you buy. So will ask Steve to enlarge a little (if he hasn't had enough of me already) and I will post up another illustration. ;)

I appreciate that ;) For sure, I'm all for classy & subtle but the overall smallness of the logo was the first thing that caught my extra sensitive eye:gayfight:

Looks like you chaps have been busy here!
I personally think it looks great as it is, but happy to hear others out.
On another note: I spoke to the supplier today and was told the plate can be scaled down to make a smaller plate for those, however the white border cannot be removed with the black plates.

Why not
evolve had a black plate with no border and you could always do the cheaper way and buy blank black plates and by vinyl stickers like Natgan sent me for the Racedatasystems logo

Nah not yet Steve, I have forwarded the design to the printers every-time it has changed, but is currenty on hold till I give them the ok. Just waiting back an email from another supplier to see if its possible to have the plate supplied without a border as everyones request. I have been told by the printer I have been dealing with that this is not possible.
Will update all, when I receive a reply.
karbonkid
16-07-2010, 07:34 PM
To keep you all updated:
The plates supplied to Evolve are foamex and may not be suitable.
I have however finally found a company that can do a black only plate with no border, which I think will be best.
Now thats cleared up, we need to decide what design we are going for here:
Option 1:
http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/1180/afinal.jpg (http://img822.imageshack.us/i/afinal.jpg/)
Option 2:
http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/5042/afinalblack.jpg (http://img121.imageshack.us/i/afinalblack.jpg/)
Or Option 2 with colour text?

N.B - for those who have got/ yet to receive their plates I must mention these Instructions from the Printers:
When receiving, you will see a rainbow effect film on the surface of the plate when new, which is what has been left behind after being manufactured. Due to the nature of a black plate, it will show light scratches if cleaned with a contaminated/ abrasive cloth. (like a SB CSL) ;)
To prevent scratching the plate's surface, not needing any cleaning agents you must use a clean dry Microfibre cloth, gently rubbing over the surface until all film has been removed. This method is recommended to be used for further cleaning in the future. Easy...

Hes one to keep ya going!

Mine are the same, has to be down to the printers as the flag is different (not faded) and on the file used to make it, the letters are centered.

I have just had a chat with the printers and they told me all their settings for it to be centered when going to print were correct and are not sure why they would appear slightly off centre. TBH I didn't notice as its marginal, otherwise I would have queried it at the time.
For what they are initially going to be used for on track I think you will even find it hard to read the plate from a distance, let alone get a chance to get the tape measure out on it. Well.... not strictly true when knowing how slow some of you drive. ;)
Joking aside, if this is an issue PM me and I will get another set made up for you.
I have been informed from the printers that all plates that are ordered from today onwards will be revised, but will have to be manually adjusted as the plate is centered on their systems.

Further to our discussion of the CSLReg Display Plates being off centre, the Printers have agreed to recall all the plates and replace with the new revised version 'FOC'!
For all who wish to have theirs changed please return back to me and you will be replaced with the new set. I will PM everyone with the return address & make sure you have all seen this.

Had a few ask best ways to secure the plate. I have no drill holes, mine are taped. When drilled they often let water in & look messy too IMO.
I use this stuff (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5m-DOUBLE-SIDED-FOAM-ROLL-1-/330470630294?pt=UK_Crafts_Other_Crafts_EH&hash=item4cf195a396#ht_756wt_913), works perfect, tested to 170mph, leaves no mess when taking off, Lightweight!... and costs under half the price of a Pint!
