Has anybody fitted something like Schrick cams to their CSL?
Be interested to know results and whether it's worth doing if head is already off?
(just thinking...)

I wouldn't put them mate.
In a stock car they will just move the 'area' that the engine produces HP (-> higher).
If you had headwork, exhausts etc, then yes.

Shame we can't search MTorque any more, TonyR did a good post on his experiences with cams.

I have the 288/280 cams in my M3 but it has had the carbon airbox conversion, so not quite a CSL but the only difference is the exhaust valves now.
What I will say is for the money its not worth it and you will loose a little low down torque. This can be mapped out but the CSL ecu will run the 288/280 cams on the standard CSL map. But on track and High Rpm it is night and day.
If you re head is already off though it may be worth the money!
Standard M3 now producing around 380Hp depends on the Dyno!
flatout

i spent a bit of time with Stefan Wolf of Schrick at autocar NEC this year. He told me the name of the engineers that had had the most experience with Schrick Cams on the E46 in the uk and gave me the sheet showing best road upgrade for CSL
reading it now it shows only suitablke upgrade for road car is still 288/280 cams but high lift (14mm instead of12.5mm) along with usual valve springs, rocker arms and retainers, plus a map.

Here you go check this out, apparently they recommend the 12.5 mm lift for the M3 CSL Shimmy. It could be out of date though, but it is their current catalogue?

These are the ones I have. the 280/288 with 12.5mm lift.

We run the 288/280 high lift cams in the Cup cars, most people now do I think (who have done it). Added to the manifold and exhaust there is a tremendous increase in upper end power, under 6k there is little difference. You must fit double valve springs, retainers, new rockers etc or they will wear out very fast and must be custom mapped.
