Just had my Insp II service today, and according to the dealer technician, the coil spring that I recently had replaced by an indie is fitted incorrectly - he said it's not sitting correctly on the rubber pad.

I can't see anything wrong myself - what do you think ? I can't see any obvious way that it could be fitted differently.

You can turn the spring but it will achieve nothing., I reckon the tech is just looking where the old spring was sat, (see the outline) reason it is different is because your old spring was, I presume, snapped.

Check its seated properly and if so its ok.

Looks ok to me from that photo.

Cheers lawsy for the confirmation.

Looking at the parts diagram on realoem, the rubber spring pad just sits on top of a collar that protrudes from the wishbone. The spring is definitely located around the collar, firmly against the wishbone, with the pad between them, as you can see from the pic. I really can't see how else it could be fitted.

Saves me the embarrassment of having a moan at the indie and them having a look and telling me to :birdman: !

Although I just noticed in the photo that the sodding brake sensor wire has been left unclipped so I'll have to take the wheel off again and refit it sometime :banghead:

That would certainly be a whole lot quicker! :hahaha:

Looks fine to me - perhaps it's the top rubber pad or the other side? Although unlikely given that top pad has a large centering protrusion for the pad to go on.

Looks ok to me tell the dealer to show you how it should be fitted that would be fun and can you video it and post on here so we can all have a good :hahaha::hahaha::hahaha::hahaha:

The bloke said it was the bottom pads, and I've checked the other side as well...

Could it be that it's upside down ?

I mean the upper pad to be installed down and the lower pad to be installed down ?
There is a difference between them and especially the lower one is 5mm thick.

Upper and lower rubber pad don't interchange - they are designed differently to stop that from happening in the first place (and yes I've tried before just to be sure).
