Chaps, in case some havent signed up to the newsletter the lastest Circuit tools, and firmware for the Vbox lite is out.
Recommend uninstall the Beta version of Circuit tools if you have it, prior to Installing ver 1.1.7 ... well thats what Nathan said anyway !;)

Mods, any chance of sub dividing the technical area into the logical folders as in Engine, gearbox, brakes ,suspension etc. ? or is it a big job ?:hahaha:

Yeah - bug in the installer of the beta version which means an upgrade doesn't work properly.

Dont know about bug, but I have buggered up my Spa Vids and data ! named them something logical, and the Circuit tools doesnt like it, it tries to look for the original VBO file, even if you rename evrything with an identical name ! In an effort to resolve the problem whilst just playing with CT, i loaded what should have been my wet laps, and the graph says im doing about 100 approaching Eau Rouge, whilst the vid shows me stationary in the pits listening to Lawsy slag off the Jap machinery !
I know... I have the files mixed up, but they arent actually, because even when I rename them both correctly to say VBOX0004 both avi & vbo, when I try to load it into CT its says "cant find VBOX0002.avi" :119: :banghead:

No short stuff the reason you can't be bother is cause you don't want to be reminded of everyone coming past you on track lol :finga:

Handbags ladies:notworthy:

I am more interested in the datalogging side, lap times etc etc.

And film on my handy cam attached to the sun visor, although the camera system integrated looks good, giving speed, etc.

Might be investing in this system myself

Question to nathan.........can you just buy the dash datalogger with gps etc and the circuit tools on its own without the cameras?

Dl1 or performance box if you want a simple data option

If looking for a stand alone data logger I'd look at Race Technology DL1 (http://www.racedatasystems.co.uk/store/Race-Technology-DL1-Datalogger.html) and AiM Evo4 (http://www.racedatasystems.co.uk/store/AiM-EVO4-Datalogger.html), although the AiM looks much more expensive initially if you want to use data from the ECU the CAN and serial decoding is built in where as with the DL1 you need to buy a separate interface which takes the price closer. I'm not a performance box fan myself for a number of reasons and we don't stock them but can get hold of them if you wanted :)

I really think that having the data aligned with video helps explain the data though, you can instantly see different lines, if you were held up by another car or were off line due to overtaking etc and that is where the VBOX Lite becomes attractive at it's price point.

Both DL1 and Evo4 can have video added afterwards though if you wanted, DL1 through the Video4 system and Evo4 through the SmartyCam (but it is only one camera, not 2 or 4 like the other systems, and the software to allow side by side data and video is still in development).

Also worth noting that a big part of gaining speed comes through looking at other peoples data and comparing with your own so getting a system from the same make as your friends does have benefits.

If you want you can drop me an email to let me know what it is you want to get out of it, what data you wanted to record and from what cars and I'll let you know the best (and\or cheapest) way of going about it.

Cheers Nathan:thumbs:

I think I will probably opt for the V box with 2 cameras and the rpm pickup, just need to decide when!

Liked the look of shimmys and Duncans set-ups:thumbs:

Lawsy, im only just getting into mine, though wtf for I dont know !!
I would highly recommend grabbing a vboxlite off Nath, the real benefit to you as a racer would be having the synced track data and the video to go with it. This stuff lets you put up multiple laps at a time and compare them at the SAME time, so you can ask the question "where did i loose a second on that lap" , and you can review each corner and the line you took in detail and probably come up with the answer !
I asked it why i didnt get under a 3 min lap at Spa,and it said " Look here fat guts, you are a grandad, and a 15 stone fooker at that, you are 53 years old, you have had the car 7 months, and you are a shite driver" ..amazing feedback !! ..get one today ! when they are gone ... Nathan can gets loads more !!!
