DIXIS if quite popular with the E46 crowd, State side. Hand Made in Japan to extremely high standards from quality materials. From what I know, I think the GruppeM is the LOUDER!!! :supz: one of the two (every time I asked about it, the replays are always... it's FOOKING LOUD!!! ) and I'm sure CSL Girl will confirm this
Also looking into noise solutions
Thank you please

The dixis one is very similar to my back box. Nice and quiet cruising but screams like a bitch at full chat. I love my titanium exhaust, mine is braille fromn the good ole usa.
I had a miltek like you have on now, it was too boomy for my liking and my titanium one is just right.
Its noisy when cold but quietens right down when warmed up.
PS I'm keeping the csl now Stu, could not part with it. :smokin:
Im picking it up from murketts tomorrow morning:thumbs:

GruppeM well loud, but WHAT A SOUND on full chat!
I'd say, go for the Dixis, just for something different and let us know how you get on with it. Could be an interesting find, I think I am watching the same 'zorst'... hey Bealo, you at home or offshore? I've suddenly started being able to post from offshore, some relief! I'm sure others will argue with me though!

Lawsy great news you haven't sold your car... can't wait to see it it in it's white wrap...
Yes Daz the Dixis with it's large tailpipes and sound sounds like a winner to me...... if idon't like it i can still move it on and keep the milltek...

I am fairly certain that the Gruppe M is a whole lot louder than the Dixis
Dixis:

the El Diablo from Rougue is a copy of the dixis system at a lot better price:

I'm sure that csl girl did Brands (or somewhere) not long ago with her Gruppe M fitted, wonder what the db was?
I didn't bother asking what my standard one was at Spa Rob, no point, I wasn't worried so long as it passed! Lol

Brands isn't really that tough on noise but certainly I know guys with gruppem who've been kicked off almost ever track I know, does depend on climactic conditions of course.

I did Brands when I had the OEM, haven't done any track days with the gruppe m. Would probably swap it if I was to do another track day to make sure there was no noise problem. :)

The GruppeM was a hooligan, but it was an itch I had to scratch. Always looking for something else myself, would love a SS but brakes and Coilovers first...oh no wait, moving house and getting married first...*cough cough*

I looked into Dixis as I suspect akrapovic won't be making an E46 system anytime soon.
As with the GruppeM exhausts you really need to see a receipt or get any serial numbers checked by the factory. Two I looked at were the product of China. Not Japan!!!!

Seriously though Baz congrats to you and your Lady.
To answer your earlier question i'm in UK at moment and will be leaving for work tomorrow so we will see if i can post next week when i'm back on the rig.
Fingers crossed i will be able to.
Good point about the receipt aswell will ask the question.
Would ideally like the SS race box but a bit reluctant to fork out full wack on a new one.
My full Milltek was 96 dl at Spa, usually around 92-93 at UK tracks.

Sal at Evolv. Gas just finished an E92 Akro rival exhaust and working on an E39 exhaust.
He was asking me if I thought their was a Market for an E46 system and my gut feel was that you'd get some CSL guys buying it and a few M3 guys but maybe not enough to make it viable.

We will be releasing our CSL Cup race exhaust soon, centre exit, comes with carbon fibre rear valance, lighter than Akra system and comes with an FIA race cat. Even has add on sound deadeners to get round lower track day noise limits. Nothing on the market sounds even close

Talk about buses. Nothing then a few come along....
To Thorney,
If your system is lighter than the Akrapovic, I assume then it is made of titanium?
Also, any chance of seeing some pictures of one fitted to a car?
Shimmy, your pal at evolve sounds interesting too.

it will be interesting to see if any power or weight gains on both systems(if evolve ever do it)
i auite like the idea of a double centre exhaust for the CSL but i guess the cost of the diffuser is gonna put the prices sky high?
Thorney

No, still steel, wont use titanium due to potential to crack on race cars (not saying akra will crack but titanium race exhausts have a propensity to do so generally). The pictures willnexplain why it's so light, there is nothing to it really and cat is lighter. Rear diffuser is £400 but whole system including diffuser is over £1200 cheaper than akra I think, not worked out final price.

Good luck Bealo - If your locale is anything like mine, I hope you keep the motor garaged matey...
The Pikeys in my neck of the woods would have that away in seconds if they knew it was made of titanium..:hahaha:
There's been 7 regular E46 M3 bumpers lifted within about 7 streets in the last couple of months....
Who the fook is buying them all ??
(Although there has been a sharp increase in sightings of Nova's with BMW bumpers and Impreza bonnet vents of late :hahaha:)

I know the guy who makes sals exhausts. I have a guy who does custom exhausts too. I am dropping some sections for him to start making for me.
Sports cats first then see how they do, then hopefully full systems.
I will be removing my back box soon, so I will weigh it, see how light it is.

I take it you are talking e46 here John and not your e9*?
It will be interesting to see. I toyed about with the centre exit system, losing weight from the back and running centre boxes to quieten it down,
I stopped experimenting when I was going to sell.
The only trouble I see is noise, it sounded awesome but too loud. Would have been a problem with the trackday posse.

I could probably do a custom 200 cell race cat full exhaust with centre exit for £750 fitted. Only problem is as I say noise. Ill do some work on it, and try to get carbon made for the diffuser.
It would be considerably lighter, ill work on it over the summer.

Although weirdly enough the old race system tested today at Castle Combe at 103db, went out, got it hot and down to 100db, track measurement is hardly a science.
