Whats the procedures with fitting a tracker? Do they have to be renewed annually, at what cost and once fitted do you have to give your insurance company details of such to prove one is actually fitted?

TIA

You can choose annually or lifetime, although I think there is still a limit on lifetime (like 5 years) also its not transferrable if you sell the car.

Check with BMW as to your original Spec, mine had one fitted already even though Tracker didn't have it on their system and the previous owner wasn't aware. Persevere though as different dealers seemed to have different info i.e. the supplying dealer had no record but Snows in Portsmouth had it on their system as part of the original spec.

Annual subscription - £135

Duration - £350

Well BMW didn't have the slightest and suggested I speak to Tracker. After 35mins on hold, I got pretty impatient... so hung up! :banghead::banghead:

Do you have to prove to your insurer that you have one fitted by providing a certificate of some kind or do they take your word, whats the procedure?

...Basically my insurer called to say I dont have a tracker and will be an additional £100+ till end of renewal (3 months lft). So If I tell them I have one, will they ask for some certificate or serial number? Im pissed as its taken them this long to tell me I dont have one and try charging me £100+ for the remanning 3 months Im with them, then IM OFF!

On my side, my Insurer imposed me tracker, No tracker, no warranties, no recovery and no refund if stolen), so no choice....they gave me a list of approuved & autorized dealers for tracker installation, by luck my Local bmw dealer was on that list, Bmw took everything in charge, it was sold as a package, Tracker, setup & installation, activation without any time limits/duration for +/-435£ (contact is active for life or until I sell it or car changes owner), they directly sent all papers to insurer and I got after that 11% discount extra on my contract.

Tracker will not talk to you, clearly you could be somebody eying up a nice CSL and wanting to check if it has a tracker fitted. The dealer can ring up and ask as they have a dealer ID. It's just whether your dealer will do it or not. I have just called my dealer as this sems like a good idea and they said it was highly likely a tracker was fitted.

They do need a certificate or to speak to tracker to confirm yes.

Try Snows on 02392 657500, ask to speak to the parts Dept. Failing that Try Andy @ Murketts or pm your reg and I'll do it for ya.

you know what my dealer suggested (can't believe i didn't think of this). Just call Tarcker being assumptive that your car has a tracker and say 'I'd like to start my tracker going again please' give them the last 7 digits of your vin and they will tell you what tracker you have.

worked for me, I have a tracker. great

My car had a Tracker tracker on it when I bought it and I had to supply to the VIN to get it transferred to my name, prices £135/£350 as azrael said.

Insurance company (Privilege) would not insure the car without the tracker. When I said I had one they insured the car on the agreement that I would send them confirmation of the tracker and the car was not covered against theft until they had received the certificate from Tracker.

I might be confusing matters, the best way is to get in touch with Tracker, but in my case Tracker had no knowledge of my Tracker, even though it was physically located in my car and on the original spec sheet. It did take a lot of effort but got Tracker to sort in the end! In fact it seemed to take Dan @ Pace Ward my insurance company to kick their arse in gear.

Try tracker first, failing that try your local bimmer garrage or Andy Pressland @ Murketts 01480 459551
