View Full Version : Non BMW service
Opinions please - i've had my CSL for 3 years now - spent alot of money on it with specialists who know what they are doing (brakes, suspension, bodywork) - but now due an inspection II and loathe to take it to the local dealer because I am just not convinced that they will perform the best service (despite charging a stackload for it). So far I have a FBMWSH, but if I go specialist, and therefore not a Full 'BMW' Service history, is this going to impact on the value of the car..?

Opinions will vary... but one fact is that without FBMWSH, you or a future owner will no longer be able to put the BMW insured warranty on it. If your car's at >60K miles it might not matter much as the warranty is so expensive at that level, but for under 60k I think it could be a factor for many people when buying.

BMW service is the way to go i would not be keen on a CSL that does not have a full bmw service history
Having thought long and hard about this I think it's ridiculous that now having a FBMWSH seems to affect the value of a car!
My Inspection II is also due in around 3750 miles, seeing as I've forked out for the top warranty then I'll probably use Andy at Murkett's this year and make sure every tiny little thing is sorted out to perfection, after this I won't be buying the top warranty, maybe just a drivetrain warranty with a £250XS and keep the BMW EU Breakdown which is handy.
I've already have a chat with Simpsons about servicing and can safely say I'd save a lot of money going there and no doubt the service would be perfect as well...
If i'm not going to sell the car which I 'probably' won't :bigcry: then I personally don't care about whether or not it's got the FBMWSH

I don't have BMW warranty but I do have BMW FSH.
Get a good dealer to do the services. They wiill price match sobyou can get the price down. They do look over the car and find other faults that you CSM get done elsewhere. It is IMHO a good double check
I am thinking about A BMW warranty again after 2 years and glad I have always got the BMW fsh.
I really only bought the BMW Warranty due to that fact that my next inspection is the big one and it's my first year with the car so wanted to get a feel for how it was going to behave! lol
Has anyone used the BMW EU Breakdown cover before? I hope I don't have to!!!! :hahaha: :bigcry:

I could have ...but didnt when things went wrong during my ..uh ...shopping trip to the Fatherland ! as they would have recovered it to the nearest BMW stealer and sorted it out there, but NOT under warranty I fear, or not without a fookin battle ! Conversation would have gone like this i reckon.
Fritz main stealer - Vot iz all zee big discs und kaliper about??
DuncanR - mmm about €2,300 all in Fritz.
Fritz main stealer - Ha , a funny guy huh ?
DuncanR - Well, as you mentioned it Fritz ...yes !
Fritz main stealer - Vot iz all zee steel tubing in zer car ??
DuncanR - After market coat hanging solutions Fritz.
Fritz main stealer - Ha ! zis car has been tracked !
DuncanR - You arent fookin kiddin there Fritz !
Fritz main stealer - Its is not therefore covered unter zee BMW varranty !
DuncanR - No worries Fritz, I shall take it home myself, for which the German company ADAC will pay me handsomely,(next years subscription solutions sorted in price), into Murketts, new engine, so its 2 World Wars and 1 World Cup and up your ass Fritz !:supz:

Had the car since it was nearly 3 years old. Never bothered with a main stealer even though I don't live far from Murketts. Don't feel like I am missing anything but might one day call in & speak to Andy.
