View Full Version : Ring / Spa - Tyres

So despite investing in a second set of wheels with cups attached, due to my fookin back, I have decided to come along with my regular road tyres only to avoid any further injury with fetching / carrying / fitting - to be honest, I have questioned whether or not it is wise going at all, but it's gonna be too good to miss.
Hopefully this won't spoil the fun too much but wondered if anyone else is running regular road tyres over the weekend ? Or am I gonna be the only :gayfight: in the village ?

You can ringt them and get a set there to fit if you want

Protyre are definately there with the MLR, they were also at Silverstone earlier this month supporting
I've not had a chance to get the Cups fitted yet, mainly because my mate who used to do trye fitting doesn't anymore and I don't use any regular monkey as I just don't trust them! :bigcry: :banghead:
I'm still on Michelin PS's at the moment, might get the Cups on this week if I can find someone to do it quick, other than that I'll stay on the PS's as the weather looks to turn really badly by this Friday the day we are leaving! :banghead:

Coming on road tyres boys. Was always planning to as will then stick cups on once the road tyres are ragged. Want to have a blast on track but ultimately not bothered about times etc. Had RS29s, fluid & hoses done last week so brakes are feeling nice and strong. Hope the weather holds out, not just for the track stuff but also for the jaunt across Europe which is going to be a right laugh.

Not going to change but happy to sink german/belgiun beer if its to slippy;)
Am i right in thinking after the 24hour race the track will be well rubbered in & rain sitting on rubber is very bad news whatever the tire?

Just went to check wet tyre solutions, and realised that the very used Cups I bought off of Shimmy a few weeks back, have been banged onto the spare 19" CSL rims I bought off of Lawsy ! Just had to take them back off again to put fookin PuSsy2's back on :banghead:... I hope it fookin pisses it down now !

Ok .....stoopid question no.342 from Yanto.
As said, I am coming on ps2 but am bringing new ps2 rear and new cup front (not on rims) If the worst happened and I lost a front, would it be a safe solution to mix cup and ps2 just to get the car home at the end of trip ?
glendog74

Safe enough.

27-05-2010, 12:47 AM
Cheers Rob. Incidentally, if anyone out there has a spare new front ps2 that they want to swap for a new cup, let me know. My cups on the other rims are scrubbed already so will replace all at once but I think the ps2s will be near end of life after this weekend. At least I'll only need to buy two then

Sent my rims with Cups on to my tyre man yesterday to take off the Cups that I hadnt used yet, and only put on a few weeks ago, and what does he do !! go on, bet you can guess, there isnt much you can fook up about putting tyres on ! ..... no he didnt put outside to inside, but he did put 235 on fookin 91/2J rim and vice versa :banghead:, I went in my workshop this morning and it flashed through my mind, "has he done this right?" ...on checking he hadnt ! .. best spotted now though.

Just been and got them done, hes a mate, I threw them out of the Disco at his feet and told him the problem , as in 2 sizes of rim, AND tyre, and he said " you didnt ask for them to be fitted that way" ... I quietly looked up as his 20 foot by 4 foot sign above his shop door .. pointed at it and said " **@@#### say ##££**** ..tyres up there you ***" no answer ! Im going to be tight on space with 4 x OEM wheels in back methinks .. Shim?? they fit with a cage ...dont they ? ...well dont they ?? Tyre stowage soultions please ! Pic Matt? When I bought 4 x 10J 18's back from Ring had to put one on passenger seat ...mmmm bro in law aint gonna like that fooker ! May just ratchet strap one to the roof !
