Hi,
I am getting some new tyres for my 9" all around setup and am not sure whether to go with 255/35 or 265/35. I am running -2.5" degrees of camber and with the ET26 offset of the 18" wheel I think the 265 might just be a bit too wide, but then again the diameter of the 255/35 is a lot smaller than standard than I want to go. Any advice?
Thanks

I run 265/35/18 ET26 9Js all round for TD work only, on standard -1.5" cumber & suspension set up and have no problems (no rubbing) so far, after 55 laps @ the Ring and one UK TD  Front end grip levels are phenomenal :supz:

Yes, I remember!
I am a bit lower which is why I was worried about rubbing the arch lip. I guess with -2.5" I should be OK. What tyres did you have again? I am thinking about federal 595rs.

i run now 265/35x18 up front on et34 with -2 camber and it works fine BUT when i ran my 265/30x19 on et27 with -2 deg it did touch the arches, but ok -3 (so -2.5 who knows)

:hahaha:  I have Dunlop DZ02g semi slicks. Superb  tyres, no questions there but the NEW DZ03g are MEGA bucks (something like £300 each + delivery) I know CamSkills are doing offers on the Federal but I know nothing about them however I have heard good things about the KHUMO V70 semi slicks and I think Craig is running these on his 328i Track Slag ;) :hahaha:

both - on full lock they just touch the front inner arch (but not a problem) but at -2 they also just rubbed the lip of the arch, front ride height is 643mm

Is that with spacers mate?, when and IF i get my Team Dynamics wheels !!! Nath ?, they are ET30, AND WAS THINKING THAT i WOULD NEED SPACERS BUT IF YOU ARENT RUNNING THEM AT et34 THEN i SHOULDNT NEED THEM AT et 30 ... SHOULD I? .... AARGHH BOLLOCKS , LOOK AT THAT LOT I TYPED :banghead:

You should have bought my 9" e26 wheels. You can borrow a set for your trip if you want.

Matt,
I have a very specific question for you mate.
When you put the 9x18 E46 M3 wheels in the front, is there more clearance between caliper + wheel spokes compared to the 8.5x19 standard CSL wheels ?
Can you please check for me.
I want to know whether I will need the spacers for my new track wheels (9x18 E46 M3).
I need spacers for the CSL wheels because my calipers are HUGE (I have the CP5555 caliper).
Thank you please.

You may have a problem - the CP5575 calliper was created so that 18 inch M3 rims fit over them. IF you have CP5555 they may be too large diameter so your 18s wont fit!!!! - no spacing will fix it (maybe)

my front rims are et37 9,5J and i managed to only put 3mm spacers on to clear the strutt. If i hadnt have chnaged the strutt follower spirng i may have needd 5-7mm spacers making it et30-32 which with 9.5J i still think will fit with -3 camber as well as -2 camber
et27 9.5j doesnt fit with -2 camber 9hits the arch lip)

Nah you wont need them at the front. What ET you thinking at the rear Duncy?

just OEm rear 9.5J
9 might be ok at -2 camber

So.... would a good setup with my 9J's all round with 265 Cups on , be to run a 10mm spacer perhaps on the rear and the fronts straight on, or will the front rub do you reckon mate?

Well I have a set of 10mm spacers all round at the mo running OEM wheels back and front, so was thinkin i would need to spacer the rears a bit as im dropping from 9 und half J down to 9J:bigcry:

Cool. if you just rubbed at 9.5J et27 I should be OK with ET26 9J as i will have 5mm more clearance and an extra -.5 degree.

So Im guessing you mean ET30 all round? Otherwise an ET15 at rear is perfect or a 12/15 mm spacer at rear only, to get the rear out wider than the front and for cosmetics of course. Fill those arches!!

New wheels are ET30 all round for the changeability thingy, and then im wondering what spacers would work best, as in, do I run my 10mm ones ALL round, or leave them off the front, and put them on the rear, or do I need to buy some thicker ones for the rear? Solutions ?:smokin:

Been there done that, trial fitted with Nitron. First up was the 12s then 15s on rear only (ET30), I can cut you time by saying they definitely need spacers on rear. Had no issues with rubbing but IMHO you will need more than a 10mm, but thats me. You wont want spacers on the front. ;)

Hm, I remember this from AP's website that they won't fit with 18 inch M3 rims.
I thought the problem was the clearance between caliper and wheel spokes.
I am 100% sure that CP5575 are 'thinner' because they fit without spacers with stock CSL wheels while the CP5555 needs at least a 5mm spacer.
If you could measure the diameter of the 18" M3 wheel, I could check what is the clearance that I have now and be sure I won't have a diameter-clearance issue.
Check the clearance I have in the 19" BBS CH wheels.

Yeah, i fugured 10mm would be on the thin side, so 15mm on rear for you at the minute then Alex?

Will try get some pics if needed. But yes, tested both & opted for 15s over 12s, giving a wider rear track and an extra 2mm over the 12s giving it a more flush fit with the arch. Not a lot in them but enough.

et15 look spot on on the rear (et30 + 15mm spacers)
et30 no spacer on 9J should be a match on the fornt as KK says
