My car is just shy of 50,000 miles, and is starting to overheat slightly - we've done a compression test, and it looks like the cylinder head gasket needs replaced.

My mechanic (who builds racecars at the ring) is advising me to replace the rocker arms at the same time, as they will need done soon so worth doing at the same time.

Anyone else had any similar problems to this? Admittedly my CSL doesn't live the easiest of lives :-D

Hi Steve
My mate the MTEC said he has not changed a head gasket on any E46 M3
yet but he said he would change the rocker arms and re shim the tappits.

Just to be safe as there is only a little pice of wire holds them in place.

Ay up Steve me olde mucker.

Bad luck!

I know of one CSL that's done a head gasket. The dealer changed the entire engine after establishing head & block damage.

Very rare fault though!
