Hi,

I am looking at sticking a side mount bucket seat in the car as I don't get on with the regular seat (normal m3:whistle:). Searching for options I have come across this OMP subframe that I can then add sliders and side mount brackets to. Does anybody have any experience of it?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HC-798-OMP-SEAT-MOUNT-BRACKETS-BMW-M3-COUPE-E46-/350346484523

The only option I am aware of it the VAC motorsport rails which are pretty expensive for what they are. And I would need to import them from the states or canada.

Thanks

Recaro baseframes come with the seat belt receptor brackets. All you would need is side mounts and a slider if required.

Never heard of baseframes before. So are they just the adapeter to allow you to install the slider and slide mounts?

Recaro manufacture baseframes specifically for the E46, which fits M3/CSL.

Thorney do them: Here (http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/products/product_info.php?products_id=4141)

Recaro Baseframe - Left/ Recaro Sliders - Right

I brought from a personal shopper of mine as it was easier due to ordering a job lot of other stuff at the time, similar price thou. That price is for the baseframe only per seat, but comes with all hardware Inc seatbelt receptor brackets, unlike other mount kits. Recaro sliders are additional and also optional.

The only problem with the Recaro seat frames is,
By the time you bolt it all together there's no room to put your helmet on. :banghead:

Is it that much higher than the VAC rails?

I found this picture with a rail installed and it doesn't look too high to me. hmm

Tankslapper - Did you try the recaro rails or have you seen them sitting too high? I just priced up the vac stuff and it comes to £300 odd without delivery duty and vat:bigcry:

I try 4 different fittings incl the recaro's

I made my own in the end. manage to drop the seat down by 50mm

I had the base frames made from different manufacturers it was abit of a nightmare. So I can not be bothered get any further ones made.

The Recaro runners with the recaro SPG seat is in fact higher than the standard seat. If you are 6 foot tall or over forget it.

The bottom mount comes half the height of the one in the picture from recaro for £30-£40 seat.
The design of the recaro is stupid, but once i take the bottom cushion off, its perfectly fine height.

im 6" by the way, and i was able to get a helmet on with the above setup.

Try Sparco they do mounts and sliding runners, to fit the e46 M3. Then all you have to do is choose the seats. I have the pro 2000 with the sliders and mounts fitted they are perfect height and very comfortable!

The VAC ones aren't exactly the hardest thing in the world to replicate...

When I was fitting Recaro PP's to my old M3 I had some machined up to a drawing I did. They cost me nothing as they were a favour to my dads factory, but I wouldn't imagine them being too expensive as they're just 2 (or 4) pieces of aluminium.

I didn't have as many holes put in mine as the VAC ones.

Unfortunately no photos as I sold them soon after they were done with all the other bits :bigcry:

Not sure if I follow. Are you saying that you can get a lower baseplate mount?
