View Full Version : Fitting a K&N Induction kit to a standard M3?

has anyone fitted one of these and have you experienced a loss in torque, some people have said fitting induction kits to the standard m3 engine does not provide positive results?

The Yanks reported loss of power and torque and constant stalling issues with the K& N kit (when it first came out though) - Perhaps look at the Gruppe M copy or the AFE kit? Those apparently make power albeit in single digits.

GSR do a decent airbox, get Evolve to Alpha N map it and job done.

that further confirms what we thought, perhaps just replaced the pannel filter and leave it alone. if its not broke then dont fix it..

Hello mate I was just thinking about getting one of these for mine they sound really good, I've spoken to someone who has had there car for two years with one on and no problem.

The yanks get problems with power due to heat soak, I highly doubt that we would get it over here because even if the engine heats are the same as the yanks, the air were sucking in isn't nowhere near as hot.

In the UK, the outside air entering the engine bay is cooler of course, but ambient temperatures inside the engine bay itself will be nigh on just as high so potentially could lead to the same issue here.

A heat shield/shroud is most probably a good idea in any case and will help to alleviate the issue:
