Thought id share some pics of my self build extension.

Rather than move house a few years ago we decided that we would build an extension.

having received some unbelievable quotes and having already built my own double garage i decided that i'd tackle the build myself.

Got my architect to do me some extra plans of the kit so that i could build all my own kit sections and save costs that way as well.

The start,

Notice the weird shape of the area that i intend to build in.

Hahaha would love to get into something like that but i'm not a Brickie, Sparkie, Joiner or Plumber so it's impossible as i have no qualifications in that sort of trades.

Time served mechanic who moved into the oil industry once my time was out.

Well done.
Health & Safety :birdman:
Love the straps to secure the scaffold off the brick pier :supz:
On a technical note what size timbers did you use for the walling & roof structures??
Assume using ply acted as diaphram wall/roof for strength & stability plus wall ties to blockwork outer leaf.

Again well done and trust your well pleased with the end results.

Wow!!
Need to get some updated pics up (forgot about this thread)

Its built using 6x2 timber (6" Kit). the roof trusses are bought in as they need to be certified so have them fabricated off site by a company.

The sheeting is required to seperate the outer cavity from the inner one and yes also serves as extra strength and somewhere to nail the block wall ties to.

Really happy with the end result, so much so that i attacked the kitchen back in Dec and pulled that back to the 4 walls and started from scratch :bigcry: missus was doing her nut
