Nice one Jaw, a tip though, get yourself some spare tyres now, cos if you get a puncture you may not find them so readily available !!

They are awsome mate, my cousin has one. Went in it the other night and WOW! Although he has it tuned to 602bhp and uprated the brake.
Anyways i think i prefer the silver to the black.
Nice one:thumbs:

How long you got till the Warranty's off?
If I had one I would definitely tune it :D There's some really nice kits for it out there. Its all good apart from the interior, I wish they had made the design better, its just really boxy and bland for my taste

Really? I thought it was a nice place to be coupled with all that performance. Although it was weird seeing the same menus on the screen as i have in my navara.
I still think they are great though.
Lovely bit of kit mate, I fancy one myself but looking at the thread on here a few days ago re running costs I may give it a miss!
Enjoy

I thought the running costs were high too but having looked into it abit its not that bad really.
Tyres are expensive for Dunlops ~£1800 a set (Bridgestones are bit cheaper)
Service every 6000 miles or 6 months ( for 6k & 12K service it is around £850 from Main dealer)
I won't be tracking mine so don't have to worry about the pre & post inspections
Insurance is a lot but thats due to my age rather than the car
Discs and pads will last due to me not tracking and the main dealer has told me prices already and its not too scary:smokin:

My business partner used to work for middlehurst many moons ago. So I only know him through him, we work on any Mercs they get in too.
We bumped into Andy at karting last year, his son was quite a little racer.
He can peddle a bit in a car can Andy:thumbs:
I think running costs can be high, but like anything it all depends how you treat it. I would not worry.

Dont get me wrong I loved mine to bits but they are an arse for costs.
As I said in another thread - I did not thrash mine any more than any other car I have owned and it only saw one track day and the brakes still only made 8800 miles - that is shit!! If my 911 had killed its discs after 8800 I would have taken it back under warranty. Nissan just put it down to wear and tear.
The servicing is not that bad but again the post track day inspections will always equal an oil change and the car eats rubber - but it would do to have that level of grip.
My only other gripe is the paint on the car and the wheels is terrible and I mean terrible - it looked worse at 8 months than my old M3 did at 4 years.
You can forgive all of this for the out and out pace of the car, it is so quick it is untrue. I fitted a Y-Pipe to mine as I felt it sounded a bit bland and other than that I loved it. The interior is great, the grip is like nothing else and the turbo rush is something to behold.
The CSL has better steering feel and is more tactile. It makes a better noise and takes more skill to drive - a good driver in a GTR will whip a great driver in a CSL. A great driver in a GTR will murder anything on the track without question.
I am sure you will love the GTR - I would struggle to understand anyone that wouldn't. Jenson Button has one and he loves his.
Here is a clip of mine - check out the noise with the Y-Pipe fitted.

I didn't use my CSL as a track car and won't be tracking the GTR so hopefully some of the costs I have seen won't apply.
I seen a white one at Middlehursts and the paint did look awful. The bumpers looked cream comapred to the white body.
I am really pleased with the UMS paint so far, but only time will tell.
Both are awesome cars though:thumbs:
both are amazing cars. sounds much much better with the Y pipes even on idle. it would be the first thing i'd change.

Interesting feedback:thumbs:
Is it a common problem for them to eat discs so quickly, and if so, why do they? How much are replacement discs, and can you upgrade them to something that lasts longer?
kpkpkp
27-03-2010, 11:12 PM
Discs are a common issue on the car and it being a heavy car is very heavy on its brakes.
Most people have replaced the OEM discs with Alcons which are slotted not drilled or something similar for around £1800 with pads which is not too pad.

I think I will go with APs that Middlehursts supply once my OEM ones need replacing, don't seem too expensive:thumbs:

My cuz can vouch for the alcons and uses RS 29 pads. Not sure but i think he swapped the discs out from new so he can put them back on when he's done with it.
These cars are more and more appealing to me every time i see them. Future buy for me i think.

Yes recently sold the GTR and bought a CSL. The GTR in an incredible piece of engineering, but i felt it left me cold; the car seemed to do all the work with very little driver involvement. I also had issues with the Black Paint, very thin and poor quality finish, so much so that it needed a full front end respray after only 5k miles.
