I would love to help here however, I am off to Brasil on the Monday morning for work and it would be a bit of a hike (440 miles) up from Surrey on the Sunday night.

Good luck though, fingers crossed.

youd better speak to the garage queens like Glendog. Mine would be no good as i am too ugly and my car has too many chips for a static display - it needs to be moving to appreciate it!

scrubberamit

It's a joint event run between Club Scud & Petrolhead Nirvana (which I belong to)

Can you please PM me your email address and i will send you all an email with dets... Ideally would like 10-15 cars... as for cars with stone chips etc etc - who cares... mine has loads of "battle scars"... it shows its been driven!!!

The Children’s Trust is a national charity working with children who have multiple disabilities and complex health needs. Theyare based at a 24 acre site in Tadworth, Surrey but offer their services to children from across the UK.

Last Year, Petrolhead Nirvana (www.petrolheadnirvana.com (http://www.petrolheadnirvana.com) ) & Club Scuderia joined in creating an event @ Dunsfold, where Top Gear is filmed.

The idea was simple, People pay around 15-20 quid (depending on the car) to get 2 laps around the Top Gear Track.. Nearly 4000 people turned up and it was a great success..

This year the event is on Sunday May 16th and we've been given the go ahead to drive for longer which means more rides and more action all day long.

Dont forget the rest of the action though,
Live bands (including a secret special guest)
Helicopter rides (subject to Dunsfold approval)
kids rides (including Roary the racing car)
Car club displays.
Fun Fair
Bouncy castles
two massive marquees to shelter from the sun
Great food
loads of stands and stalls to keep you occupied.
fire engine demonstrations
double decker bus rides

the cars will include a mix of;
Ferraris,
Lamborghinis
Dodge Vipers,
Ariel Atoms
KTM Crossbows
AC Cobras and a few special guests too http://www.petrolheadnirvana.com/torque/images/smilies/wink.gif

entrance is
£7 for Adults
£3 for children
£15 family ticket

£20 standard supercar rides (2 high speed passenger laps)
blue Ribband cars (Atom/X-bow F40, F50 CGT, Zonda, Enzo etc) will be extra...buy a standard ticket and upgrade on the day.

****HOW DO CSLREGISTER.COM MEMBERS HELP??***

We want to also include a huge static display (looking at 1000 cars)... Unfortunately, you won't be allowed to drive the cars on track, it's purely for a static display... So far we have a Yes from TVR, FORD COSSIE, SPYKER, ARIEL ATOM, XBOW Car clubs.....

I think it will be fantastic if we can get as many CSLs (whether pristine or with stone chips) to show up

I already have a few PMs but if this sounds like interest to you, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PM me your email address... I will be sending out a Group email over the weekend with full dets and then we can coordinate how we all meet up on the day... Ideally I would like a min of 10-15 CSLs... The more the merrier!!

If anything, it would be a great ecuse to meet up with fellow CSLers

It's for a great cause, so please get involved - It will be a truly great day for everyone (bring the wife & kids!!)... It's not often you get driven around a track in an F40 / Ariel Atom at full pelt!!

I have been round the track, was mean't to be in the CSL but ended up in the Liana! When I arrived the CSL was making a strange rattle noise so didn't fancy causing more damage. Turned out to be nothing, thank goodness. Rather than pay for it, and not use it, I went round in the Liana. Personally, I didn't like the track, nor the Liana lol! Or the LIana didn't like me - it broke down and we had to be towed off.

englebert
22-02-2010, 06:33 PM
They certainly make it look more interesting on TG than it actually is. At the end of the day it is just an airfield. My old man had a massive grass cutting spin at the one where you're supposed to be flat through which was fun to watch!

Thanks for the support guys, I know a few of you from other sites, meets etc.
once we've got a definitive number i'll make sure you've got ample space to park the cars on the runway near the main attractions.

one question do you guys have a Gazebo/table and chairs that you'd want to bring as well? if so, let me know and i'll make sure there's space for that too.

any questions you might have about the event i'll happily answer them :)

A quick update on Dads Day out.

We have over 500 cars on static display from a variety of different owners clubs so thank you to everyone who is coming down.

Of course if you’ve not booked your display pass yet please do so prior to the event via this link
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/shop.asp?section=0001000100110017005800140001&sectionTitle=Car+Clubs+Display+ticket

We have added a few more attractions to the day and there are still more coming all the time.

So as it stands, in addition to the Supercar rides, we have;

3 driver training areas
1. the Caterham drift experience, you can be a passenger in a Caterham as they drift and donut around a specially designated circuit
2. The Performance driver training area, take the wheel of your own car with a Roadcraft instructor next to you to hone and enhance your skills, a must for anyone with a performance car, it’s the only performance enhancement you take with you whatever car you drive!
3. The new drivers training area. Anyone from the age of 14 upwards can take the wheel of specially modified cars to have their first experience of driving on a private road within the Dunsfold complex. Highly trained instructors will ensure the first experience of driving is a positive one. This is also open to those who simply want to brush up their skills

All the above events are available to book online here
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/events.asp?itemid=738&itemTitle=Dad%27s+Day+Out&section=0001000100110005&year=&month=&page=3

Within the event arena we will have spectacular stunts from:
• East Coast FMX display team at 12.00-12.30pm and 2.00-2.30pm
• M.A.D. -the UK's number 1 mountainbike stunt & display team at 11.00am, 1.30pm and 4.00pm

Plus Dunsfold Fire Brigade will demonstrate their life-saving techniques and equipment by responding to a staged Road Traffic Collision at approx 11.30am and 1.45pm

Other attractions include:
• Kids Zone with Roary the Racing Car & Big Chris plus a craft table where children can decorate their own race car to take home, face painting, balloon modeling and Cub Carts for 3-9 year olds
• Helicopter rides from Elite Helicopters- £35 per adult & £30 per child- these can be booked at the event
• Live music from The Lettuceheads, The Deccas & Sarah Blackwood throughout the day
• Routemaster bus rides to transport you in style from the carpark to the event arena
• Fire Engine rides for children, these can be booked at the event
• Land Train and Fairground rides
• Simulator with following experiences: Red Arrows, Ski, Car Rally, Astro Canyon, Glacier Run, Pepsi Max Roller coaster & many more
• Models Zone with Slot car competiton provided by Slot 32, model aeroplanes and helicopters from Addlestone Models, model boats from Springbok Mariners Model Boat Club and model car stalls
• Automobile-themed catering bars from DW Mobile Catering Bars
• Static display of over 500 classic & sports cars including a Jordan F1 Racing Car plus a number of aircraft including Sea Harrier, Sea Hawk & Air Support Unit

So it’s shaping up to be a great day, we’ve all worked really hard to make this day as fun as we can and of course to raise as much as we can for The Children’s Trust. Thank you again for all the help and support, just by turning up you’re helping to make all our efforts worthwhile.

We’re still adding stands and stalls to the day so if anyone has a related product and would like to take a stand please contact me and I will put you in touch with the contact at The Children’s Trust

We also need an equally large area of hardstanding for the CSLRegister marching band to perform their rooting ?? ...routine on ! Shim? dont forget you are playing the grand piano in that !:birdman:

And finally we shall require a nice soft area of grass for the CSLRegister, free fall, no parachute team to land on !:smokin:

Seriously though... did we get any further with even a small placard/board/banner? I dont mind getting something reasonable through the company but wasnt intending to get a 20 foot x 4 foot monsta !:bigcry:

Hi everyone,

Once again thank you for the response, it really has been fantastic, the day is shaping up to be amazing and the charity will benefit greatly from this

We need all display cars on site by 9am so we have time to arrange and park people in the correct areas.

The event opens to the public at 10am and after that time Health and Safety kicks in so we cant really move things around in the display area so please try to arrive as early as possible.

Plus if you do get there late you're likely to be caught in the event traffic and with upwards of 5,000 people expected it's best to miss that!

Getting there on time means you will also get a chance to look over the event in peace plus you'll have the best area to park in and first pick of the blue ribbon cars on track (there's a limited number of those so getting in before the general public will be a good thing!)

All the tickets are e-tickets and would have been in an attachment with your booking confirmation email. if you dont have them, please send an email to ajeffcoat@thechildrenstrust.org.uk with the original email address you used. she will check her records and send a duplicate, however she is very busy indeed so if you can avoid that by checking your junk folder etc that would be really helpful

There are still a few rides for sale (70% already sold) as well as the three driver training areas, booking them online in advance ensures you get a slot.
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/events.asp?itemid=738&itemTitle=Dad%27s+Day+Out&section=0001000100110005&year=&month=&page=3

You will be parked on the runway so no issues with mud/grass etc.
once again if there are any special requirements please let me know in advance.

if you do have any more questions please feel free to ask.

Got another update, we've managed to secure a mobile rolling road and Dyno for Sunday.

They should be situated near the Static display and event arena on the runway. (location TBC)

So if anyone fancies a dyno shoot out, you can book them up on the day.
They can handle up to 1200bhp so most cars should qualify!
It's a very professional outfit, they do a lot of testing for various race series so they'll be right at home with you guys at Dunsfold!

As with most rolling roads, they can only handle two wheel drive and will only test your car if it's suitable for their rig

Hi Guys

Some have asked me to put up a post on how to put an E46 M3 into Dyno mode without specialists tools.
Manual or SMG and even 2004 onwards including CS and CSL.

so here we go.

As many are away the M3 will only rev to 6500rpm unless you put it into dyno mode.

1. Switch on ignition (position 2)
2. Hold down DSC Button for 8-10seconds but no more than 10 seconds.
3. Only DSC Light should come on not ABS or H/Brake light. If they come on you have done it incorrectly
and you will have to wait 5mins for vehicle to reset, if it is built after 2004.

4. Press Sports button and start car.

5. You can run car now upto 7900rpm or more, if rev limiter has been increased.

I have put two videos together and if you listen carefully you can hear the car hitting rev limit before 7900rpm.
This is the first video.
The second video is when it is correctly put in dyno mode and it WILL rev all the way round to 7900rpm.

I know i've said this a couple of times but I want to make sure the day goes as smoothly as possible, so the details for the car club display are as follows.

You can arrive to set up anytime after 7am but we need you to be there by 9am at the latest.

There are two possible entrances, the Compass gate entrance and the Stovolds Hill entrance.
Do not use the postcode on the Dunsfold site as it doesn't work, you are better off using the road name e.g. Stovolds Hill, Cranleigh, Surrey to find your way there and then proceeding to the end to find the entrance.

Once there, please state to the waiting Marshals that you are part of the car club static display and let them know which club you are with and they will direct you to your display area which is on the runway next to the event arena.

I know the temptation to do high speed runs is there when you arrive but we have to ask you to observe the posted speed limits whilst on the airfield and please do not make too much noise. Loud revving, burnouts or donuts will get us into trouble and the offenders ejected - Dunsfold are very hot on noise and we are not really allowed to make any before 10am (which is why the rides don't start until then) so we would appreciate you helping us make sure there are no neighbourhood complaints.

The catering vans will be open early so you can get breakfast when you arrive and assuming you arrive before 8.15 you'll see the variety of supercars arrive and do a couple of formation laps, there's some very exciting metal in there including F40's, a Spyker C8 Spyder, an Enzo , F50, Lamborghini Diablo/Murcielago, Atom's X-Bows and more.

As display cars we do ask that you stay in place for the day for health and Safety reasons, the driving event finishes at 4pm and the event as a whole finishes at 4.30pm.

The Children's Trust have asked me to thank you very much indeed for supporting the event to this degree and appreciate you giving up your day to help their cause. We hope to provide you with the sort of interactive spectacle which will mean you wont notice where the time went.

There are still a few rides left but around 75% have been sold as of this afternoon.
you can still book them online but only until 3pm on Friday after which it will be a case of first come fisrt served on the day (the same deadline goes for the display tickets however those will not be available on the day)

The other areas that can be booked in advance are the Caterham drift area, the Roadcraft Driver training area and the young driver training section.

They may also be booked on the day along with the helicopter rides and the Rolling road dyno testing (which have not been sold in advance but are first come first served - another advantage of arriving early)

Some of the free spectacles are right next to you in the static display area, the Jordan F1 car, the Top Fuel Dragster from Santa Pod, the 3 live bands, East coast FMX the motorbike display team and M.A.D. the mountain bike display team.
so you wont have far to go to be in the middle of things, not forgetting of course the fact that you will be right next to the last two corners of the top gear track and will be able to see all the cars as they come around them.

We have all put a lot of hard work into the day and hope you have a fantastic time. Once again thank you for your support so far and on the day.

Hey Fez,

We'd much prefer you not to leave early as the static display is part of the spectacle of the event however it wont be an issue if one or two of you have to make an early exit, we can arrange for the marshals to escort you past the driver training area and out to the perimeter road so you can leave.

What we're trying to avoid is a mass exodus of cars that will leave the display area looking forlorn (and of course the fact that there's an element of risk if cars are moving around in areas where the public are walking around).

but of course if you need to leave then we'll make sure you can do so safely, so don't worry you wont have to park in the public area.

ok final bit of info...

just for general information,

The discounted static display tickets have now been withdrawn.
However you can still buy general entry tickets to the event.

Essentially, the difference is that the static display tickets cost £7 per car with any number of passengers whereas the general entry tickets cost £7 per person (and £3 per child) or a family ticket (2 Adults and 2 Children) for £15.
you can still buy those online.

if you want to be part of the display instead of parking in the public car park then you will still be able to even if you buy a general entry ticket, you simply may end up spending a bit more then if you had bought a display pass. (but for the static display area you will still need to turn up before 9am)

Finally if you want to turn up on the day and buy tickets you can do that as well (and park either in the PH zone or the public car park) but the tickets sold on the day will cost £8 per adult and £4 per child (or £18 for a family ticket)

I hope that makes sense? basically don't panic if you've not got a pass yet you can still come along and display/enjoy the event :)

shimmy
15-05-2010, 12:04 AM
I seem to have bought a standard family ticket and not the static display pass

does that mean I am wasting my time getting there early. I don't want to get turned away with the kids in the car and have to hang around for 2 hours

Harsh
15-05-2010, 12:08 AM
no you're fine, you've just donated more money to the charity than you meant to :)

The display tickets were more about saying thank you to those coming along to display their cars by offering you discounted entry. you can still turn up and park on the display area with a normal ticket as long as you arrive by the appointed time

Some sweet cars again this year with some Awesome sounds coming from track side. Stradales still do it for me and drowned out most things. Although there was a yellow Viper that was doing a good job. Thumbs up again for Bachi for a smooth day and Amit for organising us lads. Was good putting most names to faces. Wanted to pick a few of your brains but didn't get a chance. Next time...

Great day guys

As Mole said, good to put faces to names...great convoy down and some great looking cars and choice upgrades...pukka wheels KK...they could be on my shopping list :smt055 , they looked ace...Roland / monkeycsl, good chats..Pinkpanther, Amit, Shimmy etc, also good to meet.

I went straight to my local after we split Mole, so am 6 pints in and cant be arsed doing the pics tonight....

Moral of the day....I NEED A FOOKIN SUPERPSRINT END OF... - Jeez, for me, until today, the jury was out on a zorst upgrade but now its a no brainer !!

Following Mole all the way back through London was like going out with your mate on a night out who is a zillion times better looking than you. So much headturning and thumbs up to Moles car when the sound reverberated around (particularly undEr the bridges :smokin:).....everybody was like WOW ! Ace looking/ sounding CSL.....then I followed behind and it was like...ho hum...there's another one...wotever, yawn :hahaha::hahaha::hahaha::hahaha::hahaha:

I very nearly stumped up to come along but was put off by the weather forecast on Friday, and indeed it did rain here in Berks for a lot of the morning. Sorry to have missed it in the end...

Mate I needed a beer after the last few miles of that journey back - nightmare. I should have dropped the car back then hit the boozer with you for a couple!

Glad you like the new zorst, I wasn't fussed until I heard one - then mind was made up! Don't know if all the looks are of admiration or disgust though :hahaha: Sounds awesome though

Hope I/we don't get slapped with a fine for those bus lane antics - I HATE DRIVING IN LONDON :banghead:

Guys - what can i say... thx for coming down y'day... hope you all had a good time... was good to put faces to the names....

Thank you for giving up your time for a really good cause - we had a great turnout y'day and the day started of nicely by seeing so many CSLs lined up...

Also - thx for some of thecomments... Agreed on catering - needed more stalls there...

As for Supercar rides... The problem is we're not 100% sure who will turn up on the day (due to weather / car faults)... we had 5 F40s turn up y'day.... 2 wouldnt work at all... and 1 blew up mid lap..... However i appreciate that waiting up to 90 mins for a ride is a bore.... and it's something taht will be looked into for next year...

Hope to see some of you guys @ Goodwood for the brekkie run in early june

Just to say nice meeting you all yesterday, and thanks to Amit for organising.

Also sorry for my early exit, I had to get back to the Mrs. for an evening with the outlaws

Was good to put names to faces. Also watched the birthday boy Timo
head out in the X-bow. How many flies did you get in your teeth mate?

Will definitely go again. My only 2 pence for next time would be a PA that actually knew a bit more about the cars.
And here is a red one. And another red one, and another :hahaha:;)

Best

Did anyone get to see my M3 (the convertible one) on the Technosport stand?

That's the one that runs rings around stock CSL's (ask Amit ;) )

anyway regarding Sunday;
I'm really sorry i didnt get a chance to come over and chat for more than a few seconds. I knew the morning was going to be fraught but i though i'd have time when things settled down.

Sadly there was always something to do, although i did actually get to go out in both my cars (and spun them both...i blame cold tyres.....and a lack of talent!)

So my apologies if i didnt register when some of you say hello, my brain was trying to make sense of 10 things at once. I really appreciate Amit organising and the turnout from the CSL's was fantastic. (My M3 is an E46 and despite having a few toys to play with it remains one of my favourite cars)
I'm really happy to hear you all had a good time, i'm aware certain things could have worked better but we're taking feedback to improve what we're doing all the time.

Just as a bit of background all the organising team (with one exception) volunteered their time and services for nothing and we're rally pleased that we did because the buzz of the day was amazing,

now down to the nitty gritty, we did almost 900 supercar rides and ran right up to the limit imposed by Dunsfold...we got through the waiting queue at 4.30 on the dot.

We believe over 4,500 possibly 5,000 people came down and we raised in excess of;

£63,000

The Children's trust are understandably very pleased indeed and have vowed to put on an even better show next year with the aid of the lessons we learnt from this one..
Thank you for your support and hopefully see you again next year?

pictures will follow :)

Oh and i hope you all had a good chat with George on the Technosport stand. He's the guy who did my car and Amit's.....a real enthusiast who knows his stuff.

I have to say I really enjoyed it

I liked the slightly haphazard way it was laid out and the strange mix of events ( no offence meant but it seemed nicer that way)

I liked the food stalls ( we did eat early and avoided the queues, and I liked the fact there was only one Porsche in the supercar runs :)

the kids had a hoot and I didn't feel it was too big so that they'd get lost and it was small enought for azrael to find me and lend me some dosh so we all could eat
