View Full Version : I finally took the plunge!
Called BMW and arranged the Warranty today! Went for Comprehensive cover with £100 Excess including the European Breakdown cover!
I'm now £1029 lighter (I don't do things monthly, hate direct debits!) so let's hope it's worth it!
Just got to hold out busting the car until the 30 day excess period has gone so 9th March is the threshold! :bigcry::bigcry:
I think I might need the SMG Software update as I seem to be getting some clutch 'slip/slur' on occasions, either that or the clutch will be getting replaced and I'll hopefully feel the benefit straight away! ;)
Now, how do you use launch control, I'm dying to give it a go! :hahaha:
worth having the warranty imo, good choice. i've got the top one my toy! and need to use it for a few bits soon.
i havn't tried launch control yet....

Cheers mate, cool vid, shame it's chopped off at the end! lol
think they cut the end off, thats when he launch controlled off the side of the mountain :clown:... how deep is that guys voice in the video :hahaha:
I've just watched some of his other vids,I can't get my head around that hill start one!? lol and let me get this right, you keep your foot planted to the floor and as soon as you let the gearstick go the car will launch!?
Also depending on how quickly you push the accelerator down that determin's how hard the car is going to launch?

I have a loose weather gutter at the rear, it was fine at 150mph+ the other night but I still want it done because I'm fussy! lol
Mine has some clutch slur I reckon, does it literally feel as though the clutch is slipping?
Mine has Inspection II this year aswell which Andy (at Murkett's) is going to do at a good price for me (£400 CHEAPER than my local stealer!) so I think my Warranty might come in handy!

How are they going to sort it, SMG software update or replacement parts?
Mine 'seems' to slip in the lower gears, full tilt in 4th, 5th & 6th is where it's at it's best for me and changes instantly with no slip at all!? lol
If I change from say 3rd to 4th with a 1/4 to 1/2 pedal then it seems to do some funny things on occasions?

That's fair enough then mate, are the SMG updates covered under warranty?
I know my mate is paying around £75 exc VAT for some to be done on his M3 Cab!?

Congrats  Painful bill but one worth doing. Don't do too many launch controls as BMW has a way of finding out how many you've done and may refuse Warranty work on a new clutch.
Yeah I was only kidding Matt but I will give it a go just once! lol My car has a nearly new diff in it so now has got to be the time to try! :bigcry: :hahaha:

Do you think BMW HQ will think it a little weird that there's one dealer who's got lots of warranty claims going against CSL's ?
Don't forget your warranty doesn't start for a month and issues before the start date aren't covered - not sure how they can prove it though ?

I guess if you've been into a dealer with a problem before you buy and then get the warranty to try and cover it they can poss pull history of diagnoses work or quotes for repairs?

Good questions to be honest mate! When I spoke to Andy he said they look after 56 CSL's now! :supz:
I know my warranty doesn't come in until 9th March, takes the piss really as it's an annually renewable policy isn't it? Therefore how can they cover you for only 11 of the 12 month policy?
Do they do this every year!?:banghead:

Hopefully BMW can see that Murketts get our business because they know CSLs and they know what BMW Uk are willing to do on them both warranty claims and goodwill.
Credit to Murketts and Bmw as they seem to recognise that some things on the CSL were requiring support for past the standard warranty period
otherwise it is a tiny proportion of their work I guess but just a nice sideline to specialise in

My CSL had a NEW Clutch kit (including the duel mass fly wheel) fitted under warranty at the end of 2007. Do U think they would have updated my SMG at the time ? Have there been further SMG updates since 2007 ? For £41  I might just get Andy to do it regardless.

Do they do this every year!?:banghead:Your still coverd for 12 months,it starts after the first month, next year it will start as soon as you pay,and it should be cheaper as long as your still under 60k miles, and you have not let it laps even for a day.;)
