18th - Full Day TF
19th - Northloop Track Day + Evening TF & GP Circuit
20th - Offroading / Ringwerk / Cochem
21st - Climb Castle

Then leave mid-afternoon of the 21st and arrive back in the UK on the 22nd. :)

Yeah, now that I am home I can finally post on this forum..

Welcome home Baz.

After receiving my email about this event this morning, I have posted this on Northloop Forum. When I say collectively, I wasnt speaking for all of you guys dont worry, just ..well.... me and T$ really !!! :hahaha:.

Darren,
Nice bumping into you at Blaue Ecke last week-end.
email arrived this am ref the TD on 19th April for which a number of us in our CSL owners clique have booked. Collectively we are a little ... surprised at the revised timings, and total track time. The package was sold as 08.00 to 17.00hrs.
The email now informs us that the times are as follows :-
08:30 Drivers Briefing
09:00 Sighting Laps
09:45 Pit lane opens
12:30 Stop for Lunch
01:30 Restart after lunch
16:40 Pit lane closes
17:00 Track closed

From the above, the total "track time" proper is now 2 3/4 hrs morning session, plus 3 1/2 hrs afters, total 6 1/4 hrs, not the anticipated 9 hrs, which would give people more time to take a break, give the car a break etc. and still get a good few laps in.

Are the sighting laps for the full VLN course or just the GP Circuit? For those of us with a reasonable idea of the NS circuit, is there an option to just do sighting laps of the GP circuit only saving fuel at least !

Will the Breidscheid exit be in use during the day?

Regarding the €1,500 deposit, will recovery through breakdown and not accident, be carried out by the Ring? or if we have ADAC cover can we use that ? What is the situation regarding recovery from the GP circuit itself? Assume the circuit will do that themselves at no charge, please confirm.

Duncan Rogers

PS anyone still wanting a place on this event, there is a discounted one for sale on the NL forum http://z8.invisionfree.com/Northloop/index.php?showtopic=27192&hl=

Well phrased Duncan :smokin: U can count me in as well ... THANX for that e-mail to the Ring TD organisers. I too thought it odd when I received the same update e-mail this morning, outlining the some what shorter times... I'm not impressed really considering this whole event was originally SOLD under the premise of 9 hours track time :banghead:.

1,500 euro deposit - that's odd, why would they come up with such a request. I would have thought that this is something that they'd price within the cost of the event, surely having a truck on standby would not cost (worst case scenario) 1,500 euros x 50-60 cars... that's alot of money in someone's bank account:partyman: In any case, I though they were hiring the whole track so only needed a max of 3/4 trucks lifters on standby???

£350 deal being offered on NL seems like a good deal though...

I feel so much better after getting my first Ring trip done too, WHAT an experience!!! I WILL be back for sure, was very surprised how well the car went with it being standard and all. The two others I was with on Coilovers and AP's were just another step ahead though! The TD on Monday was class too, good to meet you Rob and sorry if I met you too Matt. Were you the guy that asked me about the CF Bonnet Bent and dash inserts? Or was that Tivo?

I've got loads of photos but my camera was left in Johnny's car and he's still over there, and heading to Ireland after it. Will get it when I'm over next week.

That was me. I have the carbon inserts on the dash and the bonnet, I think I tried to let myself in your car at one point and wondered why the key wasnt working (not used to seeing another CSL let alone so many!)

Glad to have been of help clearing your codes ;) My CSL was all error free the whole weekend until I pointed her Westbound, towards Blighty and "HELLO" engine emission light... almost every time after a good workout she does this :hahaha: always on the way home... it's OK though, my Supersprint 100 cell cats are just being over efficient  again.
BTW It took me less then 3 and a half hours to drive back to the Ferry in Dunkerque ... don't ask me how  but it involved a couple of V-max moments in ze Fazzerland :supz: Good to have met U Eric

:hahaha: To be fair to Rob... he was ahead of me by 3 laps  come Sunday end of play. I then did the TD on Monday where I added another 20 laps... God only knows what Rob would have done if he participated in the Ring TD :hahaha: .
AWESOME weekend :supz: and my CSL stood up to the challenge in it's relatively standard form, without any faults
Without a shadow of a doubt, the Nurburgring is the spiritual home of the M3 CSL :supz:

Good to catch up with some of you guys over the week-end, you know who you are cos im fooked if I can remember now !! Think it was Rob, Matt and his nutts, Fasteddie but really Eric, Baz, Alex,Craig,Sonnybono, Niall...apologies if I have forgotten anyone...and you are all such young boys too !!:gayfight:...Im really feeling like the old man on here !
TD was ...well... memorable, I had the honour of giving Jorg from Comfy C his first experience of the GP circuit, then a lap of the NS, bought him back in one piece too so steaks are still on the menu !!
Enjoyed my very first experience on Cups , total difference from PuSsy2's, especially when the weather warmed up a bit ! Thats the good news, bad news is, that whilst driving down to the local shop this morning, with good oil temp and oil level of 0,5l ...the bottom end gave out :bigcry:... I shut it down straight away so no legs out of bed, but engine is fooked ... my suspicion is failed oil pump, as it was so sudden, never leaked oil etc., so ...off to Murketts we go... sadly I dont think I shall make Snetterton on the 28th now Shimster

So are the things with the springs the catches and the hook thing is just the release? I am easily confused!

mattCSLnut
24-04-2010, 11:31 PM
So are the things with the springs the catches and the hook thing is just the release? I am easily confused!
The catches are the things in the front slam panel and they are the things that usually start getting sticky with age and dirt accumulating in there. They are the release mechanism for the pointy bolts attached to the bonnet with return springs, which are usually OK, so long as the tension/return springs are not broken. Best thing to do is to clean your slam panel catches with WD40, make sure they are moving freely (get an assistant to pull you bonnet release handle and watch then move with ease) then apply some grease to them (either white or copper grease) Failing all that (read it... if U can't be arsed ;) ) get an BMW Indy to sort it out for Ya  simpools
