Hi,
Does anybody here know of
anybody anywhere running a
Manual CSL with the Siemens
MSS54 CSL ECU please ?
I know of a couple of S54
Track/Race cars with Manual
not sequential G/boxes but they
run aftermarket ECU.
Any help or pointers appreciated.
Regards,
The Gorilla.

I have a feeling that the physical DME is actually exactly the same between the SMG and Non SMG cars (in the stock M3) - it's the programming that is different.
What about running a manual DME from a normal M3 and reflashing it with the CSL mapping? Sure it's a slower ECU and might not cope, but who knows? If it can work for those retro fitting the CSL intake I see no reason why it won't actually run a real CSL converted into 6 speed manual.
The DSC would be an issue though - but if you can track down a Competition version ECU with the M track mode and 6 speed manual and just reflash it with the CSL mapping you'd be home and away I think !! That would be the closest to the CSL without the SMG portion.

Hi,
NZ_M3- What you suggest makes sense.
I know of a couple of SMG M3's
that were converted to manual
and they had issues with the
data links in the looms/harness etc.
The E60 M5 in the States is available
with a 6 speed Manual box and they
also have the DSC working, but that
is on the MS S65 ECU/DME which
is much more powerful than the
MSS54 ECU/DME.

Yes, customer of ours has done it himself and we've done a couple. It needs the complete CSL engine loom, ECU and airbox to work. You essentially re-program the DEM from M3 to CSL
