I have a situation, or maybe I don’t, I have just had Thorney fit new AP discs and RS29 pads across the rear, thanks John. These of course require bedding in properly, which requires reaching low medium and high speed, and the progressive…bollocks, you lot know what I mean I shall not dilate on the matter further.:hahaha: During the Dyno run, Thorney diagnosed a fooked head gasket, I discovered that this was covered under my full BMW Warranty, especially as my car is a garage queen , never having been tracked or “Rung”:whistle: ..Car is currently with Andy at Murketts, who has accepted my explanation of the roll cage as being somewhere to hang my clothes from. The situation I have is that I still need to bed the brakes in, with all this entails, the problem is do I also need to follow some obscure BMW running in procedure for a new HG? as the final stage of bedding in requires hard progressive braking from a speed of about 350 mph, down to 50mph.! Thoughts on a £20 note and send to me :thumbs:

Finally, someone who knows what he is talking about instead of taking the p!$$, no wonder his is a Mod.A few questions so i dont fook up, 1 should I start off in launch control?, or traction off?2 what temp should the oil be at before i go out on my head gasket bedding in run? 3 do i do it at night, air more dense, or is it ok during daytime ? thanks for the advice Mark.

at theend of the day Duncan youcan do both still as the HG will max require rev limits whereas brake bedding in just requires you to get up to a speed and brake - you dont have to rev the balls off it!

Yes you do Shim ... you really do !!! :hahaha::hahaha:

I will sort it out proper mate, I shall put my sensible Engineering head on and find a happy balance, just need a longer straight run to build up speed without revving nuts off it !

Saints thro !! :thumbs::thumbs:

Running a head gasket in? All it is, is a seal thats squashed when the heads tightended!?! I can understand bedding in a freshly honed bore, but not a head gasket, if the gaskets gonna fail, its gonna fail no matter what.

Engine up to temp, drive it how it should be driven! :)

My original thoughts entirely Craig, but then I got to thinking , surely BMW are going to make it more complicated, at the very least I would have thought they want to re-check the torque on the new bolts after so many mailes or so?? just guessing.

Joking are you not? BMW service being efficient, yeh right.

You will be fine duncan, just drive it as normal, just be patient for temp to rise before booting it,

What were your symptoms??????

Still cant belive you got away with that;)

No running in required, worthwhile doing first run relatively delicately to get oil wamre dup and check for any leaks etc but assume dealer will do that. AP bedding in doens't need any high rpm just variance in speed thats all so wouldnt affect car even if you did need to run it in.
