back before xmas the old bill stoppped me in the CSL as i came thru the dartford crossing into essex for having no insurance

bike old bill pulled me over and stopped me in Lakeside car park

BLOOMING HELL must have been 150 cars there queing waiting to be seen by me inc bikes, bangers, mercs, Royalty, Nigerians, Poles, low life scum etc etc and old billhad awning up, mobile canteen, sky tv

anyway took me 60 minutes to get seen to as the original check was with the main insuance database (MID) which said NO, but upon ringing my insurer eventually they said YES, so i was released unharmed and without any anal damage.

So moral of this story (as there were 8 police forces involved and they are doing it nationwide) is;

1.Check your insurer has you reg on MID
http://www.askmid.com/ownvehicle/

2.If not ring them and tell them to get it sorted (they are breaking the law)

3.Until then carry a copy of your cert or at least cert number and tel number (no good if after hours)

I was told quite bluntly if there was no proof they would have taken the car (for now).

Does anyone know if those average speed cameras on the bridge are working? Keeping to 50 is not easy

There was a sign up on the north side about five months ago saying that they were not operating.

Off-topic sorry.

I bought my CSL 4 years ago from Broadoak Ashford and my 1st drive was back home to Scotland, through the Dartford Tunnel and OMFG!!! There were goosebumps all over me for about an hour after it. Slow right down, NAIL it, Slow down, NAIL it!

Heading to Newcastle soon and planning a couple of journey's through the Tyne tunnel, just for the craic!

On-Topic.
Cheers for the heads up about insurance, checked that ask mid place and both cars are on it, result.

I suppose this is the same database that gets used to check your insurance when you renew your tax online? So if you can renew online, you should be ok. Worth checking though :beer:

An obvious choice for us Southerners would be the Heathrow Airport tunnels, the beauty of which is there are roundabouts at each end, and a BP garage !:thumbs:you could have fun there all day !!!:hahaha::hahaha:
