I have my track days (including Spa) covered under my road insurance with Competition Car Insurance.

The Ring is an exception. I used to get cover for the Ring from Moris (Everritt Boles) but they stopped doing this a few months ago...

Thanks to your past recommendation I'm also with C.C.I. and covered under my CSLs Comprehensive road policy for Spa + three other UK TDs  for a remarkable £500, all in. The wonders of a decent Forum :supz:

does cci cover you for normal road driving and fully comp on track?

Of sorts yes. I am covered for fully comprehensive standard road use as well as 4 x track days per year. The track day element comes with a higher excess iirc and only covers my car (as is standard for track day insurance), i.e. i'm not liable for damage to others on track.

It's up to each car driver to insure their own vehicle on track in case of damage, whether self-inflicted or otherwise...

Thats very good; in the past CCI have never seemed to be competitive for me, and I'm by no means high risk i.e no points, decent area, not 19 years old etc

I am also with CCI and have Spa included as standard amongst lots of other UK tracks! :)

On a slightly different note regarding the Ring, what is ADAC cover, who provides it, how much is it and is it necessary?

ADAC is the German equivalent of AA/RAC and is essentially a breakdown service. The beauty of ADAC is that they will recover your car from the Ring in the event of an accident thus avoiding some of the expense post accident/breakdown on the Ring (which is far from cheap).

I have the full-fat BMW warranty so have pan-European breakdown cover provided with that policy.

ADAC is the german equivalent of the AA. If you're a member then they will recover you from the ring if you have an accident/breakdown without charging extra. Obvioulsy also covers you for normal roads.

would the ring truck just drag you off, and then charge ADAC for it then?

that armco is still not cheap tho is it:bigcry::bigcry:

ADAC is actually the equivalent of the RAC, as if U use your ADAC membership in the UK (it's pan European coverage) it's always RAC that come out. I've also heard that if you're with RAC in the UK, ADAC come out to your rescue if you're broken down in Germany, although I think the Ring is not covered.

I've been a member of ADAC since 2006  for that reason alone + it's only about £75/year for the FULL ADAC+ coverage which is a lot cheeper then a 300+ euro per each Ring recovery. Strangely, I have an RAC Pan European recovery through my UK Bank account as well (not that I'm paranoid :smt103 or anything ) :hahaha:

CCI currently have quoted me £778, including 4 TD's, trouble with me is that my Company has always paid Insurance for last 20 years :drool:, but it leaves me without any NCB discount :bigcry::bigcry:, and my company Insurers want over £2,000 premium per. year...and forget TD's !! ... but .... nowhere in their policy documents does it exclude the Ring , I think I will have to bite the bullet and go with them in future ... I mentioned that I knew Rob, and that he was only paying about £535...and they put mine up £100 !!:banghead:

I'm also with CCI - cheapest quote by far for me and it includes four trackdays.

For those of you considering it, something to be aware of is the fact that you may not be third party covered when driving other cars, despite the fact that CCI is a fully comp policy.

Unsure of the specific reason why (it may be age related), but if you are somebody that likes to jump in and out of other cars from time to time you might find it a little frustrating... :banghead:

Guys, just to confirm, CCI insure your cars for normal day to day use plus whatever trackdays you ask them to put in the policy? And this includes european cover and trackdays? I'm with A Plan at the moment but might be worth cancelling pro rata and going with CCI if they quote well. Not sure if I'm allowed to do that though.

?Do the RAC etc not extend there cover for european cover? Im going to ask the question, although if I do go in the csl ill have the BMW european cover, but I might just be in the "normal" M3 so im gonna have to ask the question:thumbs:

Yes it's worth every penny , but make sure you get the top cover "ADAC Plus" as there is also a lower levels of coverage that may not cover the UK or have something else, not included. :smokin:

Has anyone been unlucky enough to have to make a claim with competition car insurance?, I've also had a very good quote from them but you only really find out how good/bad they are if you have to make a claim.

Being underwritten by Towergate and using Aviva they are both big name companies, not necessarily the best but they will get the job done so you should be fine ;)

They seem ok to me, I've worked in insurance for 10 years now and don't use many different people unless I have to and CCI came very good for me IMO

For anyone wanting to join "ADAC Plus" brake down call them at their Munich central office on: +49 89 7676 6632. Many operators speak better English then we speak German . If you're planning a visit to the Ring it'll be the best 79.50 Euro U'll spend this year  considering it's 300 Euro per each and every recovery from the Nordschleife, no matter how trivial. Just make sure it's the "ADAC Plus" brake down cover as there is a lesser option which doesn't have the UK coverage that's serviced by RAC, on ADAC's behalf.

Be cheaper to take out the year as I did mate for £683, includes 4 TD's, one of which will be Spa. The premium for TD Insurance is approx. 1% of the cars value, so you obviously value yours at around the £30~03k mark.
