Was working out some costs on this as well which may be a useful reference for people to know.

Mileage:

West London - Nurburgring = 367 miles
Nurburgring - SPA = 71 miles
SPA - West London = 326 miles
Track miles: 60-80 (I'm a track virgin)

5 tanks of fuel: £350
Trackday: £250
Hotel: £100-150 (2 nights)
Food & Drink: £200-250
Eurotunnel: £90

So looking at £1000+- for 3 days.

If you remember Rob (so many trips it gets confusing) I only did Spa that trip but did stay the extra day.

I'm definately at Ring from Friday evening before Spa. My ET booking is 16:20 Friday back Tuesday 1st June.

I'll probably drive to Spa on Sunday late afternoon.

Leaving Tuesday gives an extra night in Spa for beer/food.

That'll be no problem Alex, so long as you got the top mounts on and set. Move them out to -3 degrees for Spa and you'll be laughing.:smokin:

Ok sorted. Booked same times as Shimmy and Daz. 11.20am on way out and also booked the 21.42 on the way back on the 31st. If I decided to kip another night in Spa, sure it won't be a problem turning up at the chunnel the next morning. £90 is dirt cheap!!!!!

Steve, we are getting the boat to Zebrugge on the Thursday, and getting the Tuesday boat back. The usual muppets are with me (Andy, Graham, Ian, Mike & Trevor).

We haven't finalised our plans for Fri/Sat/Sun yet, we might head down and do the Stelvio Pass rather than head staright for the ring for a change. All yet TBD.

As a Disco 3 owner myself, i hear the call of a kindred spirit, so if car is running ok, you will be most welcome to a ride, ive even been silly enough to let others drive mine at the Ring before .....:hahaha:

Cheers Duncan

My options are:

1. take Disco as "support vheicle"
2. take wifes Astra 1.6 Turbo (180bhp :blalalala:)
3. buy a car purely for the trip, ranging from £500 banger, to dropping £7k on something "entertaining"
4. go as passanger

Options currently stand:

3. plan A
2. plan B
1. plan C
4. no chance as I get very bored as a passanger!

Crash it you own it:thumbs:

people say "bend it, you mend it", nope not for me, if I crashed someones car I would buy it off them, If I cant afford the car I wont drive it.

And if someone crashed mine they would buy it.

Simples.

Quite agree, "you bend it, you buy it" !!!!

Let me know your plans nearer the time Tim, it would be good to have a few beers with the guys

Dudes, me and Dazza are booked onto an earlier train so as to get out to the Ring for some cheeky lappage on Saturday...

Our times:

Outbound: Sat 29 May, depart 08:20 (should get to Ring by 14:30 local)
Return: Tue 01 Jun, depart 13:20 (arrive Dover approx 13:00 local)

Anyone else fancy the earlier crossing? ;)

Its weird we seem to do a slightly different route every single time, some due to the fact your charging with your mates bearing down at 160+ and not noticing you've flown past the turning you needed :hahaha:

No not past spa, turned off B4 ... E something ?? 45 ??

First year we did some awesome mountain type roads, with a stream running alongside, you could see through every single corner, and it was BEFORE top gear had aired it so was still a bit special and nowhere near as busy on the roads or at the ring, so the local roads were empty .. so we just apexed every bend ... quickly !!

Mad blokes! Trust me, having done Cornwall to the Ring in a one'r a few times, you won't be feeling too great halfway across Belgium... :bigcry: :hahaha:

You might want to consider a Travel Inn or similar near the Eurotunnel having driven up there the night before

I'm out on the 11.06 and return on the 21.50, same as you - will meet you in Calais and travel over together if you want :)

Will you be setting off from Pompey or MK?

Sorry terry only just seen this will be coming from MK

South Mimms is junction M25 and A1M so about two junctions round the M25 after you join it from M1

but don't worry, I'll SMS you next week details of where to meet as Bealo joins after M11 so maybe better to meet at Thurrock Services just before the Thames Crossing on M 25

what colour is your Ricer?

+1 this weekend may have to go the same way as Dunsfold ... down the Gary Glitter ! Working backwards from my Tunnel crossing time i get the following :-

Friday 28th May 7:42 crossing, with CSL on trailer .. subject to change as may need the 450 mile trip to Ring to get mileage up a bit on new engine.
Thursday 27th May, hoon around the UK mainland trying to get approx. 3000 miles on hopefully new engine.
Wednesday 26th May as above. Drive 500 miles if poss.
Tuesday 25th May as above.Drive 500 miles if poss.
Monday 24th May, 1200 miles run in service and oil change at Murketts.
Sunday 23rd May go for 400 miles run to get up to 1200 mile run in figure
Saturday 22nd May go for 400 miles run to get up to 1200 mile run in figure, but im attending a fookin Masonic week-end do as well :banghead:
Friday 21st May go for 400 miles run to get up to 1200 mile run in figure.
Thursday 20th May pick car up from Murketts.
Wednesday 19th May ...today .... just called Murketts, they are still waiting for word back from the Fatherland so there it sits, on the ramp, old engine still in ..... in a word "imfookedforSpa" :bigcry:...

The reality of it is, that if Murketts got word today to throw a new lump in, it wouldnt be ready until this week-end at earliest, so lets say I pick it up next Monday at best, I would then need to drive up to Scotland and check in with the boys up there , then drive down to Cornwall and have high sixes with that lot down there :hahaha:, then back to Murketts for 1200 mile service soetime Tuesday pm say? so a day behind schedule, carry on clocking moderate driving miles up, on Wednesday to Friday, change tunnel booking to Saturday 6:20 Mantrain solutions !:supz:

I need to visit "Crossflags" BMW main stealer up in Dumfries, Scotland at some stage so there's at least 400+ miles return trip from Bedford area, if this'll help with adding mileage to your new engine  and you'll be doing me a favour too  provided the new engine's dropped in, in time

Duncan - i'm sure BMW could authorise a German main dealer to carry out the 1200 mile oil service for you?

I'm sure that there must be a willing volunteer on here that would happily pile some 'running-in' miles onto your car if required  :hahaha:
