Amended above ,as I'd only put on costs for 60k+ cars , now got the prices for all on there. It's actually come down to £690 with £250 xs or a straight forward £798 with no excess.

Full Comp / 250 Excess / Breakdown = £690 vs £772

Hi, my BMW insured warranty is due for renewal and I have had my renewal letter. My friend with the same car has had his renewal through but he got a login pin/password for a website to select options such as excess and level of cover. My letter does not give this information.

Any idea why?

good but i would take the full warranty and no excess for me worth every penny.

What a new buyer will have to watch for now is minimum cover not the full bmw warranty when you buy second hand cars now worth a call to bmw warranty before you part with the cash.

yes, very tempting to just go for the cheap option at £396 just to keep the warranty going for resale

result! they sent me a username and password and I can renew on the website.

Like for like saves me £82 - just by sending 1 email.

Now, which cover do I go for ?

I dont need breakdown as I have full euro cover anyway, so that saves me more!

Got 2 weeks to decide, will have to read what the cheaper warranties cover.

Full Comp / 0 Excess / Breakdown = £951 this is the 1 i shall get
all you need is 2 claims in 1 year and you are quids in.

Also brake down any where in europe and they tow it in for free.
if they cant fixit they put you in a hire car and you go home.
they fix the car and deliver it to you.

WORTH THE EXTRA COST NOT TO HAVE THE EXCESS :smokin:

I agree if the CSL is a daily driver, but mine is rarely used, so have to rethink, as I said I have full euro cover anyway and if I breakdown its more than likely in my daily driver car.

I'm going to ask if you picked a lower category, could you upgrade it the year after to fully comp.

i'd like to hear what people had had fixed under warranty - springs are a common one - i think only fully comp covers springs

I have a list as long as your arm.

Gearbox / Clutch flywheel / Diff / Suspension arms / Alternator / Airbox flap motor / Steering wheel / Csl sill plate / Wing indicators / Window Regulator / Rear window / Front seat runner / Carbon door pannel / Wing mirrors / Battary / Power steering Pump and pipe / Hand brake lever / Back seat relese / CD player / Rear trailing arm bushes / 2 rear springs / center pipe exhaust /

There is more and this is only in the 10 months i have owned it
But i must say it is like new now

Thanks to BMW warranty WORTH EVERY PENNY :notworthy:

Well the warranty letter was on my matt at 10:00am, and the new warranty was paid in full by 10:15am, and my old warranty is not up till 31/08/08.
but i dont want to miss out.

I went for the Full Comp / 0 Excess / Breakdown = £951
Last year the warranty cost me £1,100 + £250 excess
I think it is a better deal this year

How may are not going to renew or have not got BMW warranty ????

Yep my mate has just renewed his warrenty on his black CSL for £951, it does seem better value these days.......What was wrong Mark? Glad all sorted now.

I've just paid £757 for Fully Comp with £100 excess.

(The £0 excess option was £113 more. So if I make 1 warranty claim in the year, I'm 'up' slightly. If I need to make more than 1, it will start costing me a little more.)

I didn't bother getting the BMW Assistance thing. From reports over on MTorque, they are less than useless when you need help over in Europe. AA & ADAC (for Europe) will cover me (in any car, of course) just fine.

Just a few things
Parking sensor / gearbox as it had a wine in 4th gear / rear wheel bearing
/ 2 front struts / vanos unit / front window as the rain sensor was not working / but it is like new again

I would not like the bill if it was not under warranty

With regards to the BMW AUC warranty........

How far in advance do they send you a letter (ie when should I be thinking of chasing them to update ?).

Agree that AUC warranty is an essential addition to the cars integrity/peace of mind/resale value.

Mine isn't up for renewal til Feb/March 09.

Yep it would seem so Mark.....If you do lots of miles and track days would imagine it's put to good use. Is there a track day clause in it or are you covered even if you track it.

Mark CSL
05-10-2008, 01:21 PM
No there is a trackday clause ( Thats why i dont use my csl on track )
