My guess is that there will be a Ring weekend before hand when TF dates are announced but either way im still off to Spa. Group discounts are available with an MLR member booking but beware as last eyar it sold out in a few weeks. Dont forget BaT and GT charge £350 for summer dates.

last year MLR was BH monday early May and some guys went out to the Ring Friday and Saturday to do TF days Saturday and Sunday, then either stay at the Ring Sunday night and travel Monday early to Spa. Home Monday night or Tuesday morning.

others , like me who were not allowed out by the wives, drove over Sunday to Spa and home straight after the trackday to Uk, staying one night only in Spa

anything is possible.:thumbs:

Ring is 4 hours from Calais - and Spa only 3 hours from Calais - 1 hour between the two.

Some northern monkeys ferry Hull-Zebrugge overnight to try to tap off with the hen nights and others either Dover-Calais ferry or Eurotunnel both ways.

My guess this year is there will be a big load of us who do the Ring and Spa.

I will likely go out Saturday early - Eurotunnel say 10am - Calais 12 noon - Ring 4pm in time for beers then spend Sunday at the ring and probably travel to Sap Monday early for the trackday. Maybe go straight home to uk or stay over.

Last year quite a few of us left Spa 5pm and got the Eurotunnel around 10am and were back at home by midnight

Definitely! Nice long (and wide) F1 track with decent run-off most places, with only around 60 cars and OPL - so doesn't get too busy.

MLR days tend to be well controlled and drivers courteous too ;)

Yanto, Spa last Nov was my first ever TD mate, and it was wet, its a great place, big run offs... well in places ... should you need them of course !;) Think of it as the M6 ..with tighter bends and you will be fine ! ( speaks the voice of experience after 2 TD's :hahaha: )

Well... since you posted that video of Spa, i have spent all morning producing my very first ever video..and with sound !:thumbs: Its taken me about 4 hours to finally get everything sorted including the size of video for youtube etc., apologies for the soundtrack, its all i could come up with as the camera is waterproof ! and yes , i know its shot from inside the car !;).
I love that turn 17 at Blanchimont where the chap went off on the grass, which is what prompted me to make the video in the first place as I couldnt for the life of me remember the grass divider being there, I thought it was all solid runoff ! so I played my video back to confirm and lo and behold there it was ..grass, I shall make a note of that for May, where I can see I need to be looking for sub 3 mins to be mixing it with you track gods !

For all you other dudes showing an interest, i would advocate getting it booked soonest as this sold out within 2 weeks last year iirc... It is a great day and is very well run by MLR. If you do commit now but can't go later for any reason then you will have no problems whatsoever selling your place on to a member of the MLR who will be on a rather large reserve list!

I would say get a session in the morning with instructor OR passenger rides as a minimum as it does take soem time to understand what race pace is like

By the PM youll know the track and be working on the size of your balls

a few reasons-i generally do this unless it is mid summer

1, heavy rain means you have somewhere to drive into and hang out
2. somewhere to stack your stuff
3. somewhere to change wheels etc in the dry and out of the sun
4. direct access to the track and off the track, parking in pit lane

there is always loads of paddock space if you dont want a garage so no real issues but it is nice to have a Home!

Here is the 5th edition of the MLR trackday at SPA FRANCORCHAMPS

The main piece: The Spa track day :

This year the day will happen on Monday 31st of May 2010 (a bank holiday as always).

Same format as last year; open pit lane, professional instruction, tyre services and trackside photography. We're also aiming to be able to offer paddock support so niggly little problems won't stop you enjoying the day.

Price is only £249.00, so please book as soon as possible by sending me an email as this is a popular event! Details at the bottom of this post.

For 2010 we are introducing a 10% discount for bookings of 5 or more full places (not "additional" drivers nor passengers nor garages …). Discounted bookings must be paid in full as one payment for the group.

Please note that as for the previous editions, this day is not restricted to Mitsubishi cars.

Additional charges on the Day :

Garages: £150.00 / €150.00 Max 4 cars allowed (this is one F1 garage door), pre booking is possible for people who already fully paid their day. Contact Greg on spa@destexhe.com (spa@destexhe.com).

If you want a garage but do not find 3 other drivers to share with we can book you a ¼ garage for one car at the price of £50.00 / €50.00 and we will group you with other drivers in a shared garage.

Additional drivers: £50 / €50
Passengers: £20 / €20
Helmet Hire: £20 with £50 deposit / €20 and €50 deposit

Lunch: Catering available at the track restaurant (details to be confirmed)

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ THIS:

Just as last year (and for the years to come!) the circuit does have a problem with noise and they are working with the locals and the government to come to a satisfactory agreement for everyone, starting with trying to spread the noisy days throughout the weeks.

- do what you can to ensure your car runs under 107db (this is not a goal but the ultimate maximum allowed, all drivers should aim to run the quietest possible setup)
- get it checked at a circuit or using a noise meter readily available on the web (Spa test is: 1m at 45deg and at 3/4 rev range)
- if you have a side exit exhaust, take it off and run a quieter system
- do not remove any removable silencers

If you have any concerns or questions about your car please email or PM Darin or Greg, but please note it is YOUR responsibility to ensure your car is UNDER the permitted noise limit and if you are black flagged for being too loud and not allowed to re-enter the track we are not able to give a refund

The Nürburgring :

Just as last year we are planning to drop by the Nürburgring. Opening dates for May 2010 are not yet published but we can assume it will be open the week-end before our Spa event.

As in previous years Darin is talking to Mitsubishi UK about taking an Evo X for Daniel (our chief instructor) to use for driver tuition and demonstration vehicle. If it goes ahead this service will be at an extra cost of €25 per person to cover Daniel's fee and the fuel. If you haven't been before we offer this because Daniel is one of the most qualified Nurburgring instructors, so you can get the most from a relatively short time at this incredible circuit.

Mmmhh 60 laps that's a lot of trips. I'd say 6 trips based on 10 per visit - sounds like once a month throughout spring and summer.
