Yep... U have to take the strut brace off first and then the front half of the CF Air box as the three little bolts screw on from inside of the Air box /the back of the flap. Easy DIY job but be very careful not to scratch the CF box half or loose any bolts inside the engine bay :clown: . Good luck

You don't need to remove either strut brace or CF airbox. Just disconnect the electrical connectors (x3) before manually turning the flap mounting bar to expose the 3 x bolt receptacles. You just need to ensure that you return the bar/flap back to the closed position before re-connecting the electrics - thus not confusing the actuator.

They always tow that same line! What dealership was that at - Ocean Falmouth? The service lads at my old stealers (Yeovil) were pretty cool about my mods and honoured my warranty claims.

Tank U Alexander :blalalala: U Ruski skunk.

On a more serious note, I originally tried to turn the rod manually with all electrics disconnected and it wasn't as easy as U describe, as there isn't much to grip onto. I thought of putting a small flat screwdriver in the slit where the flap goes but thought ... better not... as I didn't want to brake anything, this being my first DIY fiddle with my CSL. The way I did the job was safe, didn't require any unnecessary force and was quite a bit of fun taking things apart for an up close inspection. I also understand why the air-box is soooooo expensive now

What's the point of taking the flap off? Does it make any difference in reality?

What's the point of taking the flap off? Does it make any difference in reality?Mine is not working correctly so the previous owner took it off,but some owners take it off anyway so you get the induction bark all the time, and i think 20bhp more.;)

Is it not better to have the extra BHP all the time then?

Sal's dyno sheets for you say it all Anis

Below 4k revs flap makes no difference as air flow not vital but above it does.

most have removed it coz it fails every year

i have spent a few months driving with it broken not realising so diecided to skip it :whistle:and make sure i had full bhp

Black ones have extra bhp because it has been clinically proven that they are slower drivers and need that little bit extra to keep up!
