Was a bit bored with husband working so thought I would take the csl out for a spin. Haven't been out in it for a while and not much here on the Isle of Wight. Had the kids with me. Loaded the kids up which took a while, went to start it.... dead! Bollox!!! New battery as well, but anyway, did a jump start (instructions from husband on phone as haven't done this before) and voilla!

Thought I would head towards the other end of the island and then come back via the coastal road.

I am surprised I have any teeth left! The roads here are abysmal (sp)! Massive pot holes, and bad cambers.

The standard of driving here is extremely poor - possibly cos they are all old farts! Saw some terrible driving. First someone trying to overtake on a blind hill, had to pull back in sharply when car appeared coming the other way. I gritted my teeth and continued with 30 in a 40, then 30 in a 60 ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I didn't want to go mad as I have the kids but come on!!!

Lane discipline at the first roundabout was awful - had some old todger creeping into my lane so had to give him the horn and a dirty look as I passed. Got to the other side of the island in the end in one piece.

Thought I would come back the coastal route as even though the road is bad, there are parts which are very good:supz: but there was a diversion in Ventnor, and I ended up down some country lanes, so mud from the tractors all over the road. CSL was lary anyway with the cups and it being cold.

Don't know why they bother with national speed limit signs as you would be lucky to get to 40mph! Got a bit lost, and ended up back to the centre of the island.

Some fat lesbo ramblers started crossing when the lights just turned green and they had the cheek to give me a snarl, so I ripped it up in first, to second and pissed myself laughing at them jumping out of their fat blubbery skins (and their dogs) - serves them right I say!

Finally someone was doing 60 in front of me and I got home dying for a wee as the journey ended up taking ages. Kids slept through it!

The roads they have resurfaced were lovely and smooth:smt055 and they are continuing to improve the roads.

I feel sort of deflated. The drive wasn't that great and I can't help but feel the CSL is pretty pointless here at the moment. Back where I lived in Kent I was able to "vent" on the duals but there there is only one dual carriageway here. And the amount of police I saw! At least 5 vehicles. I never saw any back in Kent! Without wanting to sound snobby, there are no nice cars either that I saw. Other than the odd Bentley (strange as they seem to like them here) most of the cars are old snotters. I even saw an old D reg cavalier, didnt think there were any left on the roads lol! Also saw a lot of what I call Noddy cars, those old things with bike wheels so must have been some classic car event going on.

Still, will look forward to summer and babysitters where I can put the car to more use without kids and find those lovely resurfaced roads at night, but then you got to look out for the rabbbits!

I think I may have moved to the wrong island...:hahaha::hahaha:

Cheers Shimmy - made be feel better putting it on to paper so to speak - quite theraputic!

That's the road I wanted - the military road! But the poxy diversion at Ventnor took me the wrong way! I think that road busted my springs when we came on hols here a couple of years ago but there are lots of lovely bends to be had.
