Hello guys I need to replace my AP discs on the front. Pretty disappointed with the AP ones as they still look like they have loads of life left in them but at Cadwell yesterday they were humming like buggery then started to warp with more heat. I left them to cool and the warping went but the terrible humming noise is still there. Any suggestions???? I'm also thinking while Im on to buy some bells for the rear and change them from the standard CSL discs. I have the AP calipers front&rear. Cheers guys:thumbs:

cant do it ;) performance friction are the only rear set up that comes with a separate bell, the AP are the same floating disk as the OEM disks. Most people seem to put the PF disks on the AP front alloy bells when replacing the AP disks :)

Will the front AP's not take a light skim Lee from your locally friendly cash job engineering firm?

I will probably do that as a matter of course. I just don't want another trackday cut short next time round. It's got to be worth a try for few quid. Cheers for the thoughts:thumbs:

What pads are you using?

Exactly what I was thinking - what pad are you running?
It is unlikely that you have warped the disc and far more likely that you have pad deposits that have built up from an overworked pad.
AP discs do crack but if they look like they have a lot of life left in them I would be tempted to run a hard pad like an RS29 to try and clean up the surface first.

Already got the pagid yellows in chaps.... Bought them as soon as I got the car. I might buy the AP kit that converts them to fully floating rather than just standard 2 piece

The AP discs are 2 piece yes.... Well a kit can be purchased to make them fully floating which will help with heat and warping. I believe the kit is £100

Check out the AP website. It shows PDF drawings of standard 2 piece discs and fully floating discs

Not sure if AP does a conversion kit until I speak to them tomorrow but Simpson Motorsport does a kit for a £100+ vat I had fully floating discs on my previous 911 and never had any issues with warping or fading. A definate and worthwhile upgrade.
