RS has more than 25bhp more so not that.
25bhp on S54 = cams, remap, exhaust, 380bhp?

RS has same as GT3 (381bhp) just about 60 kg less weight and some better bits on it (1360kg)
my changes WILL BE ON THE CSL though i think. Plan will be decided in January.

What seats you running shimmy,
Ditch standard seats, 20-30kg ish saving
remove rear seats etc 5-10kg ish
remove aircon, 15-20kg ish
Buy some mega bucks light weight wheels, unsprung weight is multiplied compared to sprung weight loss.
Carbon rear bumper.
Just a few quick ideas
theres nearly 40-70kg.
I had a session of stripping my track slag tonight, front seats, rear seats, parcel shelf out, stupid rear sunblind out, harmon kardonn base thing out, tv tuner out, sat nav reader out, cd changer out, drove it home, You can feel the difference already, feels far less lardy.

God I'm sad - figures for some CSL bits, includes some packing but may be helpful to the Shimster:
Rear Side Bolsters – 900g x 2 = 1.8kg
Box of brackets and clips = 0.8kg
Headrest – 600g x 2 = 1.2kg
Rear side panels (packed together) = 3kg
Rear Seat Bench = 7kg
Front door cards (Packed together with speakers) = 8.8kg
Rear seat backs (packed together) = 9.5kg
Front seat unwrapped - 20kg x 2 = 40kg

can you track in your underpants?)
I have done a lot of things in my underpants in my time, and not all of them im proud of, but track a car ??? mmmm
On the weight issue Shim, how about only filling the fuel tank to half full ? Density of petrol = 737.22 kg/m^3
Remove plastic wheel arch liners?
Have a good turn out before each lap?
Make sure that the washer bottle is empty ? Density of H2O = 1 kg/litre
Then again, if said washer bottle is empty, take it and the bracket out !:hahaha:
Remove all paint from bodywork?
Only use 3 wheel studs...thats plenty if you do 'em up tight !

After stripping the CSL I can tell you theres a lot of weight that can be taken out of it! The front pollen filter assembly weights a tonne, and lots of the interior parts are excessive too like the solid foam blocks in the back, the 2 inch thick carpet, etc...
There however is only one small bit of sound proofing and that is in the drivers foot well by the throttle pedal.
DuncanR
10-12-2009, 05:09 PM
Not forgetting those 4 plastics jacking points on the underside ! CAUSING INCREASED DRAG AS WELL AS WEIGHT bollox caps ... just keep one loose for using when required ! ... how observant am I !!:hahaha:

trouble is carbon seats are about 7-8 kg with all the padding
my recaros are 10kg
as curly suggested i might as well for the trial take out my CSL passenger seat and save the full 15kg rather than buy one or two carbon seats at £1000
sorry, also wouldnt sell the CSLs as i would def put them back in when i sell the car (if i sell the car)

Slowly getting things done (see red below)
So the list of weight savings i would like to do (weights are guesses)/ Plan would be to drive out at Spa over 100kg less than last year somehow and 25bhp higher.
UPDATED
1. exhaust back box 13kg - FITTED
2. strip boot = 5kg - DONE
3. strip back seats, panels, headrests and insulation =15kg
4. 4 lightweight rims (8kg each max) = 10kg (factored) - TRIAL FIT DONE
5. remove spacers =2kg (factored) - NO NEED FOR SPACERS CONFIRMED
5, me on diet =10kg - DONE
6. pollen filter remove and any other under bonnet stuff = 5kg
7. max 20 litres fuel = say 22kg
8. zero windscreen wash =5kg
9. replace battery with braille = 8kg - DONE

4.10 diff (bought that) - FITTED, luvverly
carbon rear bumper - 5kg
new lower front bumper and race splitter - aero only (have second bumper ready)

map - DONE
Not all the above list will be done now but car weighed 1378kg with half tank of fuel. I have
another 45kg to strip with front seat, rear seats and pollen filter an then new rims and fluids to reduce, should make her i reckon 1320kg which would be amazing as with me loosing weight it would be 130kg less than last year, as target was just just 100Kg
last decision to make is high lift cams, headers or both + which kid do i sell to buy them:smokin:
i will try the rims out at Silverstone Tuesday;)
