Have been running 100 cell cats and a Milltek - it's a bit boomy but can live with it - fancy a change - what's everyone's recommendation or are they all pretty much the same ?

Come to my gaff and listen to mine, 100 cell cats and titanium back box.

having just sold a milltek from a normal m3 they are poor tbh, boomy and to me they lose the characteristic m3 noise.

Supersprint lightweight BB seems to be an all time Fav. Weighting in at only 20kg its a massive saving over standard, but however IMO I like the standard BB still even after running a SSBB for over a month or so. At high revs its seems to amplify the rasp but at low revs it does sound a little boomy, but not as much as the millteks I've heard. The weight saving is more of a priority for me.

Hope that helps

I'm running Super Sprint 100 cell Cats with Milltek MK2 back box on my CSL and I don't quiet understand all this boomy talk. Sure, it resonates a bit @ 3000 rpm, only when under load but that's mainly down to no boot sound deadening and the inner boot space acting like an amplifier/ boom box. I've added some light weight foam blocks under the boot floor and that seems to have taken the edge off the resonance.

They may have taken the edge off the boominess with the new design,

although it may seem ok to you, as you bought the car with it on, but for some who have changed from standard to milltek it is quite a noise difference.

Fair enough... I'd love to hear a standard CSL exhaust and then a full SuperSprint system, half of which I have on mine to compare. I hear good things about SuperSpring back boxes but not so about Milltek, though it looks lorvelly

I had the Miltek Mk.2 full system, boooooom-tastic, made worse with 100 cell cats.

I now run standard system (and standard cats) with SS Race Lightweight backbox - it amplifies the CSL 'rasp' nicely and is rather less droney than my old Miltek. :thumbs:Also looks better too imho, and passes noise testing with 97db at most places i have been - except Oulton where it was 101db?! :smt102

Braille titanium. light as a feather.

Think it was about £2.5k worth of backbox, id love titanium mid section as well:supz::supz:

Im currently in the process of working on a lightweight stainless exhaust for the m3/csl.

My set up sounds deeper and slightly more burbly/raspy than Robs -

SuperSprint 100 cell cats
SuperSprint Resonated Centre
SuperSprint lightweight BB (not race version as is on Robs)

Love it :supz:

Actually, under hard acceleration, it's slightly louder than the Miltek i had - but in a 'more pant straining' way - to my ears anyway! :supz:

Exhaust noise is always very subjective and everyone has a preference of course. I simply tired of the Miltek as it droned too much for my liking and sounded more like a Porsche C2S from behind than a CSL! I have track side footage of my car (with Miltek) following another CSL (with standard exhaust) round Castle Combe and my car sounded dull and boring in comparison to the other :banghead:

Only one (reasonably priced) option and that's SS lightweight backbox. It sounds great, looks great and weight is only 10kg's not 20. Standard back boxes are 25kg's+.

I have std cats, SS silenced centre section with SS lightweight BB. Very pleased. Rob swopped to his current SS backbox after a Miltek and after listening to mine at CC. Robs flyby is a reasonable representation of the sound but still doesn't sound like it does in the flesh. His car sounds lush and so does mine.:gayfight::hahaha:

Only exhaust i would have considered over the stock setup is a Kreis-Sieg. Just a shame its about £6k!

A full Supersprint (incl. mani and race cats) is close, but doesn't have the advantage of having a quiet mode like the Kreis-Sieg.

That's all as may be but 99.99% of the time you are sat inside your car listening to it... what's the best sounding exhaust from inside?

I have a Miltek on from buying the car a few weeks ago and when you are on one it sounds great but at low revs sounds awful...

Has anyone on here heard off or had experience with a " Larini " Club Sport back box ? There is one on fleeBay at the mo.

Does anyone on here know how a combo of Super-Sprint 100 cell cats + standard CSL back box are going to sound. I've managed to source a standard Genuine BMW CSL specific back box at a very reasonable price.

I would think it is the choice of centre section (standard/resonated/straight thru) and the rear box that makes the biggest difference.
