Hi,
Interesting thats its a one piece Airbox.
More power, so now you know how BMW
were able to state 360 BHP for a Stock CSL.
Regards,
The Gorilla.
Completely different the CSL concept air intake.
Do you think it's better than the current one ?
By the way, I would love a high res photo in order to see the VIN number and check if ETK will show any parts

no dodgy flap (emissions not important on prototype i guess)
and no directional air ducts from the bumper intake (may reduce airflow into the intake)
anything else?

Yeah Shimmy, it's one piece. Better airflow maybe? Wonder how the air filter is changed though????

Also, if you look down on the right there looks to be a feed from the bumper going in there. Certainly a bulge in the carbon down there.

Maybe there is no filter in the intake?

Probably not, many run throttle bodies with no filter:thumbs:

That what I was thinking must have been an impressive noise.

Hey, just searched the forums to see if anyone has done this, I did this a few weeks ago and still have it the same...
It rounds rude as mate, pulls really hard and sounds so much better, although louder...
Engines def getting more air into it, may have to get a remap I reckon...
It aint the same when it rains tho, the car really struggles power wise...
I would say do this only in the summer tbh.
Respects.:supz:

So you've been running your CSL without an air filter?

Yes mate just try it, had to unscrew it took me roughly 45mins to do it, when I was talking the strut brace off I marked my wing plus I couldnt get it back on will have to sort that but been busy with work, hopefully I havent bent it.
Induction rasppps like a true-un
Just follow the video in the tech area if you want to do it, totally worth it.
0-60 time is defantily better im going to G meter it tonight.

0-damaged piston time will be less too I assume ;)

Damaged pistons how comes, I thought it would breath better and the pistons would be happier

depends if you get any debris in there I guess - the air filter is quite useful for keeping unwanted particles out ;)
In fact BMW recalled all CSLs to replace the air filter with a later design as particles were getting past the it on the old design before it sealed so well round the edge.

I'm not sure about all this. Sure it sounds better.....................but as soon as you say better 0-60 time, I'm sceptical.
Also, the job the air filter is there for? Well that point has already been made.

Another worry would be vermin infestation via the intake ..... think of the size of rat that could crawl in there if you were flapless like moi !!! Best to keep the ratflap in place methinks !:hahaha:
Seriuosly though, IF you did run it without flap or filter, and parked it in the garage for a while, mice at the very least could find a way in and even a small mouse nest in a pot would cause serious problems !!
Dazza !! bring cheese !!!:hahaha:

Im kinda worried now, would it be best to put it back on as I dont want to void my warrenty?
Rats and Mice shouldnt be a problem cos when I start the lump up they would instantly combust and shoot out the exhaust?
That would be sick to watch tho!!!!
