Wheels with prestige wheels for cheeky Matt Gunmetal re paint back thurs... and bonnet bumper wings being resprayed at a friends this week... role on next weekend

It's something to do with a new stance BMW HQ are taking with dealers and warranty work. They're onto the fact that the dealers have been using it as a free meal ticket, so are starting to reject more things.
In the past, the dealer would make the decision and BMW HQ rarely overturned it. I'm told this has changed and BMW HQ are rejecting loads, resulting in dealers being out of pocket. So most cases are referred to BMW HQ now.
Gravy-train had to end eventually...

I had a bit of trouble this week with a certain dealer local to me, sorted in the end by the nice service manager, who applied a bit of common sense,
According to the tech who called me the wheel speed sensor failed at 320kmh (198mph) so was not covered under warranty as I had been on the track, Apparently there computer tells them exactly when the part failed and it was 320kmh, The fault actually occured changing from 1st to second pulling out of a junction but hey I am a liar....
Foooking flipped on him, I spoke to him again and explained that 320kmh was near 200mph and that my car would possibly do 180 down a hill max, he then said bmw told him it does 191mph, so how could my sensor fail at 200mph??????????? . Was ready to take physical action after being spoke to twice like an idiot from the tech on the phone, managed to calm myself down, luckily for both him and myself I now have a baby so have calmed down a bit.
This was the same dealership that told me the sport flap does not open unless the car is moving???? they were adamant about this.? Dickheads:banghead::banghead: And the same dealership that fitted a viscous fan on my car only for it to fall off 50 miles later, as they had obviously not tightened it.
They were not going to do any of the jobs as evidence "suggested I had been on track"
I refused to talk to the monkey on the other end and asked for the service manager (whom i had previously met whilst complaining to about my runaway fan, who i must add was polite at the time and dealt with the situation correctly)... He promptly called me to say that he thinks they were perhaps looking into the faults a bit too much and that everything would be replaced under warranty,. Good man, nice man, shame about some of his staff.
So end result, until I have again spoken to the service manager next week to complain about the way I was spoke to by his staff, I doubt my car will ever go back there.
Having come from a dealership background albeit mercedes, I have worked with many jobsworths and I just dont get them.
The same people who knock back peoples claims because of their input, which is open for debate are the same people who at the end of the month "create" warranty jobs to boost the takings to try to get bonus.
This is my only gripe about the warranty the fact that someone else touches my car. Small things I just sort myself but the more expensive things it goes to bmw,
Its a shame the minority spoil it .....:banghead:

One question.... it baffles me this one.
Does every bmw car, thats been roadtested by journalists etc topgear, 5th gear. autocar, evo magazine etc etc, on a track may I add, lose its warranty forever?????
This is the mindset of the dealers, "oh my god its been on track, get the holy water and the crucifix, we are not touching that devil child car"

No, you just have a shite dealer who hasn't got a clue. Murketts look after loads of cars and are fully aware they're tracked yet apply common sense to claims, worth the journey.

Sounds promising,
Although first time my car went in there were no issues, they replaced exhaust temp sensor, and viscous fan. My fan fell off, I complain then next time my car goes in the techs become arses, not rocket science.
I will be trying somewhere else, which murketts are you guys talking about?

Huntingdon, ask for Andy Pressland (ex CSL owner)
On the junction of the A14 and A1.

Are Murketts BMW still in BMW business ??? Last time I drove by (about two weeks ago) there was a Sea of Vauxhalls on the forecourt and NOT a single BMW in sight + all the BMW Murketts insignia is gone, replaced by Vauxhall Murketts. I hear they've lost the BMW franchise. Have they moved ??? What's happened to them ? :smt017

the site in Huntingdon is now a Vauxhall dealership but still has franchise for BMW service and parts (not sales)
i think the story went that BMw were going to force them to expand and build bigger aqnd better with seperate Mini but Murkett thought it was not worth it so resisted. They dumped him as a sales site just prior to the recession so Murkett is probably counting his blessings
Service staff and mechanics have hardly changed if at all.:smokin:

I've heard from a reliable sours (ex employe) that most of the staff have either left or have been made redundant. As for Murketts loosing the BMW sales franchise, I hear it was due to irregular sales patterns and over exuberant discounts on brand NEW BMWs

Hold your horses there Shimmy :hahaha:. I'm NOT criticizing Murketts, just saying what I've heard. My nearest BMW Main Steeler is Elms Cambridge but I wouldn't trust their Service department with a £50 eBay Special 316i E30, let alone my CSL. I hear Carrs of Bury St. Edmounds are quite good at their job but I've not tried them as yet as I'm not due a service for another 13 000 miles

Ok but the service staff are exactly the same as the last 4 years
I have had two same mechanics on my car for the last 2 years
Every time i have been there there has been at least 4 CSLs inc mine at the dealership
(have saved me circa £7k in goodwill)
Worth a try

COOL :smokin: I'd much rather go on another CSL owner's recommendation  then some empty promise of a BMW sales person. Tell me , what do they charge for an Oil Service, Inspection 1 and Inspection 2. It's not due for a long while yet but it's nice to know how much.

I agree with Shimmy, my car won't go to another dealer aslong as murketts are still in business, even if it is a 4 hour round trip.
