Welcome back to MTorque.

Obviously, you will notice that the site is now back online. This is mostly due to the support of the user base who have been in contact with BMW directly to try and get some form of resolution to the issues.

Clearly there has been a lot of speculation as to the reasoning behind why the site was taken down and one of the main points was an outstanding legal issue with BMW UK and BMW AG stemming from our previous name of BM3W and BM5W. Thanks to many users who contacted BMW directly to express their views BMW did get in touch with us and we have been in dialog with them over the last few weeks.

The results of this are so far encouraging, and our dialog is continuing to further improve things moving forward. While this process continues, the decision has been taken to restore the site as it is highly likely that our relationship with BMW will further improve and again restore the main drivers behind running this site.

Of course there has been a lot of feedback both good and bad regarding the site, and some of these points will be taken on board as we move forward. In the short term, we will look to be increasing our moderator base and then building an operating committee to help make decisions on the structure of the site and future direction.

My personal thanks to everyone who took the time to send us notes of support and also took the time to contact BMW, and also to Gavin at BMW who has taken the time to get involved and continues to work with us.

If you wish to be kept up to date with future developments, then make sure that your profile is set to allow emails from the admins of the site, as this is the main update process we will use for any major changes on the site, as well as posting on here. An update to let people know the site was back was sent to those who have this option enabled (and actually this is the first time we have used the function as we don't wish to spam!)

I think the damage is already done with BMW customer service and loyalty. I haven't been into a BMW dealer for some time now, but on all the other occassions, I felt like I was inconveinencing their day. The chaps down at Audi were far more accomodating - and polite.

Yes noticed there isn't much activity at all really. Guessing people think it may just shut down again and not bothering to use it.
