Bit of a last minute trip with the guys and gals from Openpitlane.co.uk I am off Saturday morning for my first trip to Anglesey Circuit (int gp) for a trackday Sunday.
I think we are staying somewhere called Betws-y-coed near Snowdonia and looks like about 25 of us on track with another 60 from Bookatrack.
I will be taking my Speedos and some lotion so I don't get burnt after a dip in the Irish Sea (Rob, put the bag down, you can't come nomatter how appealing it seems)
anybody been there before and any tips re fuel, food, sheep, drifting etc?

Great circuit IMHO, good for drifting and fun stuff - also one of the fastest corners in GB outside Silverstone I believe.
The last few hundred yards into the paddock is also not tarmaced, so watch out for the tyres! Last thing you want to do is damage a cup on the crap surface :bigcry:
Fuel is a pain - it takes at least an hour round trip, possibly longer. Nearest 97+ is at Tesco in Holyhead. Take jerry cans if you can, otherwise plan to lose some of your time, especially if (like some circuit day organisers, not the one I was on thankfully) they only break for lunch for 1/2 hour.

I noticed a few CSL's on the book a track list.
Another mate Jony in his CSL and me in my VXR220 will be going too. I am packing a few jerry cans as I heard it was a bit of a trek for fuel.
See you there!

Yes mate I like to have a little play in the Vauxhall.
In the last session I had a play with the GT3 that was wrapped, it was immense. It went on for about 13 laps. Fun watching the GT3 sliding all around the track, very controlled though!
Great day all round, awesome track and no rain.
Keep us informed of any other days you guys are planning this year!

yep car was behaving perfectly, full power and no strange noises
it did have a bit of left and right turn grumble but that turned out to be shed loads of rubber build up on the tyres due to the weather. Rubber seemd to solidify as soon as it was not on the hot part. Normally it gets warm enough to fly off the wheel al together!
but unfortunately i had a seriuous hangover all trackday morning, feeling sick everytime i went out and it got worse and worse. Better after lunch but not back to full strength until 7pm when i managed to get a bottle of bubbly down my neck followed shortly by a few pints of guiness

Anglesey was a good weekend!
we had a few appartments in Betws-y-coed for about 12 of us and the other 13 or so joined us on the trackday
most went up Friday to drink heavily and i joined them Saturday for a quieter night (that was the plan). Betws was a nice place, similar to ski resort in the summer, lots of outward bound shops and nice little hotels and shops plus afew bars and pubs. Great scenery right on the doorstep to Snowdonia
Sunday off to Anglesey across the 'mountains' with the team joind by Mike Wilds of F1 1970s fame (superb guy, no big ego like most race drivers - sorry Nathan)
Weather was overcast, cold and windy and i felt rubbish all morning.
Eventually in the afternoon i got to grips with the circuit and managed a few good corners but never felt really on the money. Lapping a few secs slower than the faster GT3s as i never felt like i had the grip in the mid speed corners which was a shame.
We all had some good track time, 3 CSLs, 1 Exige, 1 E36 325, 4 GT3, 3 GT3RS, 1 Atom, 1 XBow and saw Jony in his CSL and Glenns VXR.
As said above one nutter in a Supra (part of the Supra fan club) smoked his car into the start/finish straight wall. Must be a write off as it was worthless piece of junk anyway (only say that coz he was a liability all morning)
Back to Betws for Sunday night drinks and food and a leisurely drive back this morning ;)
