So am I doing this or not? Its a bit frustrating to be asked to do a group buy, spend the time talking to suppliers to agree how many we need etc then to waste that time? Dont mind but would rather someone let me know not to bother?

Hi John, I did call your place on Monday and did say I wasn't sure how many people would place an order, they asked me to email you which I did to 'info@thorneymotorsport.co.uk' :)

Its your shout really, I am ready to buy now and I believe a few other parties are genuine, if you can let us know that would be great, via pm or this thread, I am also happy to call if you let me know when your in :)

not sure what John can do but i know smac is needing them pretty soon.

If i can get 5 orders my supplier will do them for the £215.50 + vat above plus postage.

i think that is 15% off retail and as far as i have seen that is usually about as much as you get unless you have pictures of them sucking some french guys Knob in a car park in Calais :smokin:

If John can get prices to smac asap then maybe i can relax:supz:

BUT WHO WANTS THEM ANYWAY???

Hi John, I would feel a right Tw_t if we went somewhere else after you pm'd me and agreed to look into it for us, group buys are hard work at the best of times

Shimmy has been helpful in trying to help us out and asking his supplier.

I was going to see what we had in numbers and then call you on Thursday to see what could be done. If you can confirm tomorrow so others can see that would be great.

I know its probably a minefield to ask this, but what pads are you guys going to run with the PF discs? As Im sure pad choice will depend upon intended use of said vehicle, here is what Im currently planning.Out to Ring next Friday 13th !!! :bigcry:,pick up and drive back to Spa for the track day on the Saturday . Drive home and do the track day at Bedford on the 21st November. Probably try and fit some more track days in sub weather until taking car back to the Ring next year.

Hi Duncan,

Now that Ade isn't supplying brake pads anymore, i would recommend Questmead. They are a very friendly and efficiently run outfit who have the largest UK stock of AP brakes as well as selling Pagid/Mintex pads. They are pretty competitive on price too

OMG Shimmy, I take it you are very hard on the brakes !

What pads are you using? I can imagine 1 iffy set of disks but 3 ....

If the group buy doesn't come off this week I was going to pop over to Questmead for a full set of AP disks, I may re think ....

shimmy
20-11-2009, 12:10 PM
Tbh the first couple of sets did do some heavy braking circuits quite a few times like Bedford and Monza and were great until the cracks started appearing to the edges. I should have changed them earlier but sometimes you don't look close enough or see the inside disk.

They tend to crack as they get thinner and RS 29 are quite hard.

My gut feel at the minute is that the combination of PF discs and RS 14 will be a lot kinder to the disk.

s.mac
20-11-2009, 05:43 PM
great I've just bought a full set of RS29's, may have to get some normal road pads and just use the RS29's for track ....

I struggle to make calls during 9 till 5 but will endeavor to call on Monday to see if we can place our orders based on the 10 unit price, although there are only 7 on the list......

We haven't heard anything from the supplier about the numbers interested and moving forward.

If Rob has dropped out that means there are 5 definite's and yourself as a maybe?

The list was based on 10 units being purchased, it was a good deal but some people didn't need to replace immediately and if the buy was based on the 5 unit price they didn't want to purchase.

I along with others have emailed and pm'd Thorney's but haven't heard back. Did you get a shipping cost from them ??
