Hi Guys,

I need to get atleast some 10mm spacers for the front CSL wheels to clear my Brembo BBK.

So I was thinking to go 10mm all round, or 12mm front and 10mm rear.

What do you guys suggest as some say to go 15mm front and 12mm rear, is this too agressive?

Also what brand spacers do you go for and why? H&R, Eibach, Rogue Engineering, etc?

I'm running 10mm only and works fine .. On the fronts.. Give Thorney a bell as they do spacers...

Ive got 15 on the fronts and 10 on the rear, h&r's come complete with longer bolts but i once bought an eibach set which didnt, which is useless.

Thanks guys, anyone have issues with the hubcentric lip breaking off, cant remember properly but think someone told me about this with Eibach spacers a while back, which surprised me as they are a good company.

yep, i had one lip fail on me a while back but my current sets of 12mm have not been a problem and been on for about 30k miles

Shimmy,

Could you please advise what your current set is?

I have 10mm on the front, but from different manufacturers?? and none on the rear.

Hence I would like to add the same all round.

I also assume that 10mm spacers on the rear do not give any clearance issues with the arches?

shimmy

max i have had is 12mm all round with no problems

havent tried 15mm

for things to work properly or at least better on turn in i would say 12-15mm on front is all you need but for aesthetics the back does look better 10-12mm out as well

I needed 10mm on the front to clear my BBK, and then added 10mm on the rears just to tidy it up.

I use 10mm all round with the standard CSL wheels and they are fine.

Not sure what make they are but got them off Thorney.

Don't forget you will need extended wheel bolts when using spacers

I've got 10mm H&R on the back only, get wheel studs rather than longer bolts, means you can swap wheels and spacers around to your hearts content.

yes but you have different wheel sizes to standard

and wheel studs are fine but this year i have seen 4 cars that have had loose studs and loose wheels after use so make sure they are locked tight into position

Can you get locking studs for security on the road????

_Nathan_
07-10-2009, 02:33 PM
Yes.

Mcgard do some, only downside is they are 19mm rather than 17mm but I used them for ages, probably have them kicking about somewhere.

Thorney

_Nathan_

I assume locking nuts that fit on to studs.

When you say 10mm and 12mm, do you mean on each side (wheel) or how much the track increases ?

Each side Alex, i.e. 10mm spacers fitted on the same axle will add 20mm track width overall

I run 10mm H & R front and rear, they appear to be very well engineered, and a good toleranced fit. Cant speak for any other makes however.

shimmy
10-01-2010, 12:18 AM
apart from spacers shortening the life of your wheel bearings i think the main thing is to be very careful not to drop the car onto its wheels before they are tightened up.

this can cause weight to be transfered onto the positioning ring on the spacer and crack it

I have these in 12mm front and 10mm rears, and I can say they are superb, the bolts weigh more than the spacers themselved, so perfect for all you lightweight freaks out there. They come with silver bolts, black bolts are a bit extra.

just came across this info on another forum after a few of us had problems with a broken centre hub in the past with 10mm spacers on the e46;

From Eibach tech services
"The problem you have with the spacer is caused by using the wrong parts on this car. - As you can find in our catalogue or website, the 10mm spacers are not allowed to use on the E46. We specially created 12mm spacers for this car as the center hub of the E36 and E46 models build up to high for the 10mm spacers. If using 10mm spacers the center hub of the wheel trunk is pressed against the inner hub of the spacer which causes the shown damage.
So you wouldn´t have any problem by using the correct parts on the car."

Never seen a problem with the 10mm Rogue Engineering spacers and they are widely used on the US forums (a place where if the parts can go wrong they will in no time).

$115 for spacers (15mm - includes bolts)
$18 extra for black finish
+ postage extra (+ import tax potential... :banghead:)

Don't need locking bolts as these will mainly be used on track and my car is rarely left outside anyhow. I tried to source black bolts in the UK but couldn't find them anywhere. I was all set to spray my existing longer bolts but thought 'f**k it' and ordered some instead.

Daz i suspect your RE30 have 75mm hub centres and not 72.6mm. If they do def get the Rays spacers as they decrease they increase the diameter to suit the differerece in the two

here is the sheet, if you look at the top and bottom tables you can see one is for BMW hub centre rims and the others for traditional Rays rims
