Hello Andrew
We did a Car limits day together a couple of year back along with a Elise and 993
How you been????
So your selling your beast eh???
Have you thought about taking off the modded parts and selling them separately????
If you do decide to put back to standard will you give me first refusal on the seats and harnesses?????

it happened on track generally. Steering would lock, mid corner, preventing one from turning the wheel in order to make the corner.
by turning, and returning the wheel, I would be able to make the corner.
twice this happened, twice BMW replaced the pump + rack under warranty. after the 2nd time, I fitted a cooler, as the cause was the fluid was boiling.
If you've had problems with your power steering, I suggest you ask your BMW (assuming they did the work) to replace the entire system - if the pump fails, the rack will be ruined too, a it will have run dry.
good luck.

heya! that was a good day. - photos from the day here: http://photo.ing.me.uk/CarLimits-180107
have you still the CSL?
I'm aiming to sell it as one piece, I've spent tens of thousands making it into the ultimate track car, it would be a shame to undo that and put it back to standard again :)

it is exactly what happened yesterday at Le Mans:banghead: it is the second time !! first time was at the ring, after loosing a hose connector:banghead:
i had to return home without oil in the pump/rack (450 kms). it was okay after just replacing the hose. Maybe the pump is now out :banghead::banghead:
so: big oil cooler for the engine and oil cooler for the steering....what a shame, i didn't realise the csl wasn't really reliable for trackdays:banghead:.
so, good luck for your sell.....your car seems reliable, a good value for the new owner:supz:

Yes it was a good day and one i keep meaning to repeat.
Yes still have the CSL but it is far from standard now and is used on track as often as i'm in the UK.
What have you got lined up to replace your CSL?

yes, they're in good condition.
The car is 5 years, and 59,000 miles old, under my ownership, it has been maintained with money no object in mind of mechanical care, and whilst it is in very good condition, its not a showroom shiner - the car has been used for what it was designed, and maintained to ensure maximum reliability, and longevity.
By this I mean that I think (its been a year since I've seen them) that they show some signs of use, but they're in good condition none the less, and with a valet, could be returned to near show room condition.

Hi there
As this has got the coilover suspension how is it on the road, is it harsh or does it ride OK?
I really want a grey one, had enough of black cars!
Don't suppose you want to swap for a 570BHP Saleen Mustang? :D

Its fine on the road, intrax take a clever view with respect to suspension, so the springs are comparatively soft, and they use the dampers to provide the stiffness and resistance to roll.
I've driven the car 1000 miles in a weekend, without being tired as a result.
Your mustang sounds fun, but I've only room for one car, and the E92 M3 is taking that space for me. :)
CSL is garaged at my grandfather's until its sold.

And if anyone wanted to buy it and make it cheaper I'd consider buying the suspension and giving you a set of recently refurbed Intrax 1K2 in part ex + cash + paying for it to be swapped over and both cars set up.

Its a very different car.
I'm really glad that BMW haven't tried to make an E92 CSL. The E46 CSL is very very very special, and is one of the best track focussed cars ever made, a new version might be quicker, but it'd lack the specialness.
Its also amazing value, providing 95% of the performance, and 100% of the thrills of a GT3RS out of the box, for now about 25% of the cost (of a new RS).
If I still had time and the urge for track days all the time, I'd never have even considered selling the CSL, it was perfect for that, but I don't get the time to use it for that anymore, so a comfy road car is more suitable to my needs.

i must admit it has made me question my argument that putting a cage in my car would ruin its sale price,
i think now they are 5 years old the market for a track focused higher mile CSL may suit a caged looked after track machine
(andrew - how much did your half bolt in cage cost?)

Andrew, thank you for the tank of petrol, very kind of you, funny thing though mate ...it all went rather quickly ! lol. Took Del out in it the following morning after collecting and he was most surprised to notice that we were doing 160 up the bypass and then it dropped into 6th ! Can anyone confirm this as I wear glasses and things were a bit blurred, and Im certainly not one for making silly outlandish claims ! Should you ever find yourself out at the Ring anytime I may be there,I reckon if you were to sneakily slide a Burger and a coffee across the table,I might just take my eyes of my keys long enough for you to nip out and have a lap !
Love the car mate, and I will look after it,and rest assured my first laps around the Ring will be over to the right !!

You've a great car there Duncan - I've done many convoy laps with it at the ring and the only place where my car is faster is Galgenkopf, isn't that right Andrew? ;)

Duncan, Glad you're enjoying the car so far. Look forward to hearing about your exploits in it.
I miss it, its a very special car. The new M3 is some consolation though, and it drifts nicely, as I discovered this evening as there was a burst water-main at putney bridge :)
