Newbie...CSL found!

Hi all,

This is my first post, and I'm already after help!

Me and the missus have been bimmerheads for a long time, so have a real weakness when it comes to the performance models (having had 2 Z3MCoupes previously)!

I've just been offered 19.5k px for my wifes Z4Coupe on an 07 plate against a CSL. It's from a main dealer (so comes with full warranty)...due in very shortly and have seen some pics and it looks awesome.

I've never driven a CSL but have driven a few standard M3's. I have a number of questions:
1. How easy it it to get access into the rear seats.
2. What are the front seats like on 3hr+ journeys???
3. What are they like to live with day to day?
4. Finally, the car has Auto Air Con but not Xenons....are there any must have options?

rear seat access is fine, when your in there is more room than M3

front seats are comfortable especially if your less than 16 st.

Car is a little jumpy when cold and hardish suspension on road but perfectly drivable.

Essential extras imho is A/C. Rest just nice to have

I use mine for a daily and many do on here! :thumbs: However I am on the hunt for a daily runner for the winter while it goes into hibernation for the wet months, which means all year round. :hahaha:

Front seats like shimmy said are comfortably in you have a recaro shape to ya, and I do always look forward to getting out and having a stretch on a long run 2hrs+.

IMHO air con isnt a problem as its an excuse to hear the induction roar with the window wide open, i couldn't do without xenons for night driving but there is a plus without, you do shed a few pounds!

Just get one and join the fun...

1. Not too bad for access.
2. I have done a few trips down to London and I find the seats very comfy (suppose it depends on what seats your normally used to, I have sparco seats in my Cooper S which are not as comfy as the CSL seats)

3. I did use mine daily for about 6 months with no probs. Now I only use it on nice days though as I don't want to put loads of miles on from doing the commute to work:thumbs:

4. Xenons are a nice to have. IMO just makes the car look better at night:hahaha:



I have not driven a normal M3 but a lot of people who have driven both M3 and CSL say the CSL is much better. All the little things add up to make a big difference:supz:

Hi Dave,

Much the same answers as previous:

1. Access is ok but can be a bit of a squeeze for bigger adults! I can fit a kiddy seat ok through the gap, however.

2. I find the seats very comfortable indeed - i am 5'9" of average build. I drove to Italy and back last year and then straight up to Scotland and the car was great.

3. Day to day is ok too. The car doesn't need to be driven like a hooligan all the time and is a reasonably refined motorway cruiser with decent boot capacity.

4. My car has all 4 additional options (A/C, Xenons, Stereo, PDC) My order of importance: 1. A/C, 2. Xenons, 3. PDC, 4. Stereo.

A/C is a must if you will do lots of miles or carry passengers/kids during hot weather on long trips.

Xenons are superb. I really miss mine when i drive my wife's Toyota. They also make the front of the car look a little more aggressive too IMHO.

I really didn't care that my car had PDC when i bought it but now i love it and it makes reverse parking a breeze. You will tend to reverse into most parking spots to eliminate splitter damage usually arising from parking front-end in!

I upgraded my stereo but it still struggles to compete with the combined airbox/exhaust noise! I just use my iPod when i want good sound quality. Usually the airbox sound wins my ears' attention though... :whistle: :hahaha:

I drove a few M3 variations during my search and the CSL does indeed stand head and shoulders above the others. This really makes sense on the track more than anywhere else :smt077

Get a CSL - you won't regret it!

Car is comfy on long journey's recently did 3.5k round trip through Europe to HungaroRing & Nurburgring. Tis nice to stretch afterwards tho lol.

My car has no options apart from pdc, it has had a radio installed and i retrofitted xenons, ( im a xenon whore), not an expensive upgrade and pretty simple diy job tbh
It has no a/c, im not bothered tbh as its a 3rd car, but if it was a daily runner id have definitely held out for an ac equipped car:thumbs:

Hi from a previous z3mc owner, thought I recognised the name..

IMO I'd say:

1. ok if reasonably agile, but not brilliant otherwise, my Dad struggled!
2. fine if average size, believe the larger owners can find them a squeeze ;-)
3. I personally wouldn't want to use it everyday for everything, SMG a bit clunky around town and ride pretty firm, and I wouldn't want to leave it anywhere...but depends what day to day consists of.
4. a/c is wanted by about 99.9% of buyers ;-) the rest are not quite so essential, having said that the car would have to be a good one for me to forgo CD and xenons, and even PDC is useful.

PDC is fackin rubbish and I took the bloody fuse out almost as quickly as I'd stupidily spec'd it in the first place :hahaha: And when I wanted a new rear bumper I got one without the holes for the sensors. Annoying pile of whale muck.

Agreed - has saved my rear bumper a few times as i park in a very tight garage.
